  • Video Card? Strange actions sighted!

Well here is a first, I am asking for help then actually giving it :D

    Anyways,

I just bought more fans to replace my broken ones. So I cleaned out the case vacum to get the huge dust bunnies and I install my new fans they work great. However! When I went to power up the system (everything was back in place where it was supposed to be) my monitor just said "Power Saver mode" and went to the orange light. This is a first for me since my video card was working GREAT before and now I do not know what happened.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Video card fried. Vacum did it. Did that to my old 486... nothing worked anymore. Rule of the day: Never, ever, ever vacum your pc.

Now, when I ask you this question pplease do not think I am calling you an idiot or anything like that because this happened to me when I started my new video card quest couple months ago.

I went from a PCI card to a AGP card And the damn agp card wouldn't work. Well it worked but it gave me the same thing you got, the moniter would go into save mode and power down.

(Mind you I had both cards in)

Bout 2 months later I tried it again. Come to find out you can't have 2 cards in =) So I took out the PCI card and the AGP card still doesn't work. (so I thought switch it back delete drivers) Then when I put the AGP card in, it worked!

So I ask you you did the drivers thing and what not ?

are you sure you plugged in your monitor to the comp?

if you have another comp, try that monitor with the "broken" comp. then try the "broken" comp's monitor with the working one. if the monitor is the problem, you should buy a new monitor  (if you have money, samsung came out with the new 17 and 19" monitors with 12ms response, that means no ghosting )

nope monitor is fine. and it seems to be just the computer. and it does not have two (2) cards in, this is with one card. also my monitor IS plugged in.

If you say its all plugged in and set up properly, then get a friends computer and test every one of your components on his computer.

Thats the only idea ive got

You should also check the pins on your monitor's cable. Once I bent one of the pins on my printer's parallel cable and was tearing my hair out for a week trying to figure out what the heck was wrong.
