Serious Gamma Problem

Ok this just started about a week after I installed FFXI. The problem is when I start up POL viewer, it gets all bright including my desktop. I can't even read the print under the icons on my desktop and I have no idea what is causing this. In-game when I pressed alt+c to check the monster it did it to me even ingame, but I figured out how to fix that, I just adjusted one of the RGB scales by one notch and it went back to normal. I've tried many things including re-installing the POL viewer, but nothing. Can someone PLEASE help me. (btw I'm running a 9800 pro with cats 3.9)
