Trying to figure out which vid card to buy.

Ok I not going to say I know alot about computers because.. well I don't.. I know enough just to get by so I'm curious which one of these I should buy. I have several choices so I'll list them.


VisionTek Xtasy 9200 SE 128MB PCI Video Card

VisionTek Xtasy 9200 SE 128MB AGP Video Card

ATI Radeon™ 9000 64MB AGP Video Card

VisionTek Xtasy 9200 SE 64MB PCI Video Card

ATI Radeon™ 9200 8X 128MB Video Card

If all goes right I might however be able to get the 9600 but if I can't which of the above should I choose.

I'm using an hp pavilion xt919, 800mhz Intel Celeron processor,
128mb of SDRAM memory, Windos Xp proffessional edition.


Any help is appreciated.


Edit: I am limited to $100 to spend on this (not including tax) so I'm pretty much going on price and the bare minimum to play FFXI with weather effects on. I hate not being able to play a game without atleast being able to experiance the game to it's fullest how it was made to be played. So I prefer to be able to play with weather effects on if possible. Of course thats probibly entirely up to everything not just the vid card. But which one of these can allow me to take a step in the right direction.

1) you need to check if you have an open AGP slot
(open the case, if its there, its a 4" brown slot right under the cpu [or close])
2) if you're limited 100$ you're probably only going to get a PCI card.
3) you also need to check if you have an open PCI Slot
(again, open the case, they're the longer white slots near the bottom of the motherboard)

You could get a Geforce4 MX AGP if you have a slot.

the only reason why i dont think you'll get a good card is because of your price restrictions. its almost not worth upgrading till you can get a better card (have more money).

I wouldnt go with PCI, period. slow and unstable

Well right now I just need something that will atleast let me play the game thats been sitting on my dresser for 1 weeks. You try playing nothing but tetra master for 1 week.. -_- so as long as it lets me play the game... no matter how crappy the gameplay is going to be thats a step up from now.. doing nothing. -goes to check comp-

128 SD ram means that you will NOT be able to play FFXI online, period (sorry to sound harsh). Buying a new Video card wont change this problem. Basically, you pretty much need a new computer.

Well.. I went ahead and brought the PCI card -have another comp that I thought it would probably work on- ... and lord and behold it works on this comp... Not to sound condecending or anything but from my stand point it works fine. ^_^ Thanks for the advice I think.. well to the guy that told me about where to locate and find out if I even had a AGP slot.. which I didn't.
