Lately I've been having a problem that every once and a while, my monitor just freezes for a few seconds, then flashes a black screen then unfreezes, but say if I was scrolling down a page, it will still show what was way way up. I think it's a redraw error, that part. This happens everywhere, regardless of what I'm doing.
I've been told that it's my monitor's refresh rate, and I've been told to change my refresh rate to all sorts of levels... right now it's at 75 hertz, and it does it all the same as when I'm at 60, 65, 70, etc. Nothing I can do with the refresh rate seems to fix anything.
When I'm playing FFXI and it "flickers", it doesn't actually show a black screen, it just freezes for about half a minute, then unfreezes for a couple seconds, then freezes for another half minute, and never really stops. I don't think I've ever logged out correctly because I can never get the damn menu open to log out because it's frozen.
Anyway, here are my system specs, if you need them...
AMD Athlon XP1800+
512MB DDR RAM
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX400/440
Windows XP
Any help would be greatly appreciated... it's really hard to enjoy FFXI when whenever I'm grouped with someone they constantly die because I'm frozen for minutes on end. -_- Thanks!
