Estimate?

Right now I've got a 1.8ghz AMD Athlon Processor with 512MB DDR RAM, and no video card (unless you count the crappy on-board video card on my mobo ) because my mobo doesn't have a slot for AGP video cards, and the one I've got is AGP.

Naturally, the game won't boot up because of the lack of decent video card. Sometime soon, I'm going to get a new mobo that supports AGP and pop in my GeForce2 440MX and try it out then. How well do you figure the following computer will run the game...

Athlon XP 1800+
512MB DDR RAM
GeForce2 440MX

I can't really get a new video card for a while (couple months, maybe) since I spent a disgusting amount of money upgrading already... I used to have:

Pentium 3 450mhz
320MB SDRAM
GeForce2 440MX

Any help would be appreciated.

well i assume you are building this from scratch... so really its gonna be quite cheap...

I would order parts from newegg.com, its fast and cheap and always good quality, with good service. Took 3 days to get my system to me and free shipping.

I built this for my dad A LONG TIME AGO.
$427 without monitor

Then when i bought mine, i upgraded his video card and Monitor.
$1673 for mine +EXTRA monitor and radeon 9600pro

Hopefully this should give you some direction, although i would not get any mobo with the VIA chipset. The NF7-S would do you good, look for that mobo.

As for video Cards, well if you want dirt cheap the Gforce4 MX 440 is like 30~40 bucks, its below the bottom line of cards now days. The buget card of today is the 9600np, but i would just get the 9600pro or if you want to go Nvidia the 5600pro. But Unless Nvidia gets good drivers soon that card isnt as good as the 9600pro, but still runs FFXI great.(which so far only seems like workarounds, including the NEWEST DRIVERS) SO if all you care about is FFXI, then fine, but HL2 or DOOM III... actually Doom3 is heavily supportive of the NV3X chipset but im going off in a tangent.

Well, y'see, I've already got the 512MB of RAM and the XP1800+ processor, I just need the new mobo which I'm gonna get sometime this week. I was just wonderin' how much that video card I've got will detract from my gameplay...

Well to be honest, that card kept me from play beta.... I had a
P4 1.4
512 RDR
Gforce2 MX 440
For beta, and it was really uncomfortable to play... but then again I did have a 14 inch monitor. but still the card was a pain....
