  • Overclocking!

    Hello!

I don't know you guys notice about the processor can help on the benchmark score? I just want to say that my AMD XP 2200 @ 1.8 I overclock it to 1.9 and the score increase 2600 to 2700 on HIGH

The main question is that when i overclock it to 2.0 or 2.1, it won't boot in to windows. Can anyone tell me what is the problem??

    Thanks

thats a huge question, answer me this.

    Ram?
    Mobo?
    Barton core?
    FBS?
are you ocing the FBS or multi?
What cooling do you have, chances are if you are using stock your not gonna be able to OC.
the 2200 sucks for OCIng, if you know tell me your stepping code.
what video card do you have? (just curious)
make sure you lock the AGP/PCI freq to 66/33
PLEASE dont tell me you are using any OEM, if you bought it from dell or gateway, just forget about OCing.....

and as always goto www.hardwarewiz.com for more info.

I don't know the barton core unless I take out my AMD... I have Thermaltake volcano 9 but i'm using the ori cooling device. Which is better?

make sure you lock the AGP/PCI freq to 66/33
I don't know what is this. Can you explain more about it and where can I lock the AGP freq?

Of course my pc is ot from those dell, acer, etc..company..

I'm just curious...i oc with 133 to 141.. FBS or multi??

      Thanks...

k thats enough to tell your prob. Its your ram/cooling/chipset.

that mobo used VIA, and Via sucks for OCing... get a nf-7s course there is divider issues with that mobo but nothing is perfect.... you got PC2700 ram... that means it will do 166x2 or 333. You should up your FBS to 166 and your Multiplyer down accordingly....
If you cannot boot AT ALL into your computer you may have to clear the cmos... look in your mobo book for details its not hard its just a jumper, you take the jumper out and put it back to the other pin... it should show you.

        when you say
"I'm just curious...i oc with 133 to 141.. FBS or multi??"
that means your ocing the FBS, the internal clock or the advertised speed i.e. 1.8ghz is equal to the FBS x Multiplyer.

You should have the option to change the FBS and the Multi, unless you JUST recently bought the chip then there is this film over the chip and its locked. so thats SPEED=FBSxMulti or, 166 x 12 = 1992. I dont know your mobo, so i cant tell you how to lock the AGP bus speed. Goto www.hardwarewiz.com and ask there.

Theramltake sucks, buy a SLK-900U its the best HSF out there for AMD XP. hmm do a google search for CPU-Z, its a program, it should tell you if you have the barton core or not....

here is my computer stats in CPU-Z

Thanks dude..i didn't know that I need to clear my CMOS

          My barton is thoroughbred

          Thank you very much..

Actually i have one more problem..

if you don't mind..you can teach me..

When I install AGP driver in VIA 4in1 package, My system will automatic restart...I really don't know what is the problem...??
If i'm not mistaken..Nvidia driver also will make my comp restart but not the driver from leadtek

            hmm

well i assume your talking about Nvidia's Detnonator Drivers
Dun know what leadtek device you have... i assume Video card, which is usually just the version of detnator Drivers that were out when that card was manufactured... I would goto Nvidia's site for an update...

            Have you updated your BIOS?

to clear the cmos you remove the jumper ... it should be in your manual for the mobo.

Also look to update the bios firmware... you should do some research about how to do that on your particular Mobo.... fortunatly for me, my mobo has a windows flasher (flashing the bios is what we call when we update the firmware bios) anyway... I assume you want to update the Via AGP drivers so you can use x8 agp... well you should check to see if you dont already have x8 enabled... otherwise you probobly don't need the drivers (famous last words lol) but gl.. do some research look on the mobo site or in your manual... usually the mobo manufacture has the manual in PDF on their site.
