Is there really a big increase in performance with a 256MB card over a 128MB card? I was planning on getting a Radeon 9800 Pro, but I can't decide whether to go all out on the 256MB or just stick with the 128 version. Is there really a big increase in performance? Is it worth it to spend the extra cash? Speeds are almost the same, with the 128MB version being slightly slower. I just don't want to shell out the cash for something I won't get much use out of.

fuck no! there is no game that will ever use 256, and even if there were by that time comes that card will be obsolete. I don't know what card you are think of getting but unless its a 9800pro it doesnt have the power to use the 256, it actually slows it down.Crichton @ Lakshmi Lvl 11 Theif Lvl 5 Monk Lvl 5 Rdm

It IS a 9800 Pro that I plan on buying (See first post). I just don't want to bust out the 256MB version to find out that I paid all that extra money for the slightest performance increase. I looked at specs of 128MB version and 256MB version, and clock speeds are very close, but I can always overclock the 128MB version to compensate. But is it worth it to just get the 9800 Pro 256MB?
It was tough work killing all those kittens.
