5200FX - If you own are or considering buying please read

Despite the fact that there are probably more posts in this forum regarding the GeForce 5200FX than any other topic, people are still continuing to post questions about this card.

DO NOT USE THIS CARD

The 5200FX is not a good card. There may be a person or two who likes it but the vast majority of us hate it! I have personal experience with this card and I am extremely glad I got rid of it. If you are only willing to spend around $100, go get a Radeon 9200. However, if you really want the game to run smoothly in high resolution mode I would recommend at least a Radeon 9600 Pro. It will cost you $70 more but it is very much worth it.

2.4GHz P4 Processor
EDS motherboard at 533MHz
1024MB PC2700 DDR RAM


Benchmarks:

With a 5200FX
Low - 2500
High - 1200

With a 9600 Pro
Low - 3900
High - 3300

Well I dont have this card. I do however have the FX 5600 an this card just dont cut it, if I had it to do over I would have got the 9700 or got the 9500 an overclocked it to 9700. Whatever you do dont get any of the FX cards.

well, i got the FX9200 for almost a month now...and...IT DOES SUX A BIG TIME!! i'm only getting 2857 in low and 1651 in high...

The FX 5600 and the rest of the line under it are pretty much crap. The only worthy FX are anything above the 5600. I have the 5900 and i am impressed. If you look at benches you can tell the big gap between the 5600 and 5900.

even on the old bench (or low on new you little newby), you only get a 46XX. in low on second bench, i get 44XX using p4 @ 2.53 (not ht), 512mb rd ram, 64mb ti 4200, and i get 51XX on the old bench....
either way, your scores blow...
and they are not high res, because it is imposible using a fx 5200...
