@aerobahn: Final verdict for my PC

I've done everything I can to my PC, short of overclocking the CPU (i did OC the video card) or buying a new card. How do you think it will run FFXI?

Specs:

P4 2.53 ghz, 533 FSB @stock
Intel D850EMV2 motherboard
512 MB PC800 RDRAM
GeForce 3 Ti 200 128MB @487 mem/240 core
13 GB HD

Scores:

High res: 2640 average
Low res: 3680 average

you should get the 9600pro +512mb more ram.
i know it's about $360, but i will gerantee that you will get 3700+on high res and 5000+ on low, and 6000+ on old bench.

I know I should get all that, the 9600 pro has been on my mind for months now, and 1 gig of RDRAM is certainly a very nice thought...but I can't do that right now. I just want to know how my computer will run the game as it is.

...PLEASE don't tell me I'm going to get a slideshow at 1024x768 :dead:

your comp should play the game very well, if you get the 9600pro. if you keep the old one, it will be playable, but you can't put everything on max res, just somethings.

I don't think that will get 6000+ on the old bench, I barely get a few hundred over 6000 and my set up is well not to brag is a lot better...

on the old bench, i got 51XX. i have basically the same config edlev has, but with a ti4200. i forgot who had the exact same config as him, but the score was 43XX (it should be in the benchmark thread, or another bench thread..). since the 9600 pro is about the same difference in power, the old bench should be 5700+. add 512mb ram and you get 6000+ easily.
i still haven't rigged my xp os to the max, but i am slowly fixing it (windows is down to 0mb ram, <60mb VM). if he rigs it to the max, the score will improve by 100-500 points (more if windows is completely screwed up).

well it will be good at 800x600

but your highmode is not good at all. Your main bottle neck is your Gcard. do not dispare the XT's will lower the price of the 9600pro save till the end of OCT and youll be fine.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to play at 800x600 till then... I hope that price goes down fast. Else I'm going to go insane playing such a game as this at low resolution.

Hehe yeah Shaman King is sweet, actually you may be right about that 6000+ thing because I think I should be getting higher with my setup because I am also scoring pretty low for my setup on 3DMark03 and 01 and aerobahn and I can't quite figure it out.
