  • aerobahn, i need help... again

since i know you have way too many pm's, i though this was a good way to get an answer from you.

    as you know, i have:
    p4 @ 2.53
    512 rd 800mh ram
    ti 4200 w/ 64mb ddr
    250W power source
4 pci slots, wireless ethernet, soundcard,usb2, firewire
dell 8200 case (same size as 8250-8300, but it uses 250W supply)

could a 9700pro run here without a power source upgrade, or will a 9600pro run here? i want to upgrade ram and video card, but i don't want to mess with the power supply cuz i don't know if dell used standard measurements for the case.

Need more info then that. How many hdd's? How many CD-Roms? DVD ROM? ect ect. Also, dell uses funky powersupplys in their cases I'd think you';d have to find one modded to fit their case.

Need any other help, message me on AIM: TrunksAnime00

unlike the 95 and 9700 cards, the 9600 doesn't hook up to a power supply.. you'd be fine with a 9600 pro if you want to go that route

          Im here

Ok im pretty sure dell uses standard ATX.

          a 400watt allied PSU cost 30 buck
          new case? 30 to 250$

as for all that suff...even though a 9600pro does not have a molex connector it still can breath easy with a 350 watt

the 9800 is recommened to be used with atleast a 350 watt PSU
so the 9700 is no different...

            Dimensions (H x W x D): 16.7" x 7.13" x 17.6"
            ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
            Output Wattage: 250 Watts

            Input Voltage (auto-sensing): 90 to 135V at 50/60 Hz; or 180 to 265 V at 50/60 Hz

Heat Dissipation: 853 BTU/hour (fully loaded computer without monitor)

            Backup Battery: 3.0 V CR2032 coin cell

            ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

is that atx? im pretty sure that is an atx, but it seems a bit small. power sources are easy, or hard to replace?

nope changing psu's is a breeze. It like legos just stick em on!

Well that could either be ATX or micro ATX. I you could find out what motherboard you have that would be great.

I dunno, my psu sucked getting in, damn comp has like no extra room to move shit in and out of. Guess its not hard though if u buy a new case.

seems my ram is running slow at 798, 2 short of default. im guessing it can go up to 822 with no noticable extra heat. should i speed it up, or just keep it stable at what it is?
