  • need help: sync out of range?

I just changed my graphics card and mainboard, now I get a message 'sync. out of range', and windows won't run in normal or safe mode.

    In that pc-
mainboard: ASRock P4I45D, Intel 845D chipset
graphics card: Gainward GeForce 4 PowerPack! Ultra/750-8X XP Ti4800SE 128MB
    OS: Windows XP home
    CPU: P4 1.8GHz

Can anyone please help me with this?

I'm asumeing the sync has to do with yoru monitor refresh rate. Is it an all black screen or something? Did you change anything else? any settings. First off, get your motherboard instructions and read thouse. Find out how to get into your bios and set the right settings.

I tried reading up on that else where, and I guess it has something to do with the monitor, resolution and refresh rate. I can change these settings through windows but not through the bios (I changed back to the previous mb, which cannot support ffxi  ).
Now my problem is I don't know which setting to use. I checked the monitor user manual, there's some terms I don't understand
-> factory timing, video solution/ ergonomic vga/ svga.....
Can someone help me with this?

      InuTrunks: thank you for helping.

        Alright, do this.

First off, try the new mobo, with the old graphics card.

What I'm thinking is going on, your NEW graphics card is producing too much refreshrate for your monitor. Or does your NEW card work in your OLD motherboard? You could try that?.

Lastly, if you find the new card dosn't work, plug in your old card, and change the resolution to something of the max for your monitor, that way, your refresh rate will be around 60Hz or something close to that.

I'm thinking yoru monitor can't handle the refresh the graphics card is producting.

The old board uses a onboard vga, and doesn't have an agp.
I think I get what you mean, I'll try it out once I get the time.
          Thanks.:spin:

I changed the display settings during the weekend, but still get the same message.

              I tried the following settings:
              32 bit, 800x600, 60hz
              16 bit, 800x600, 85hz
              16 bit, 1280x1024, 60hz

              Can anyone please help me?
