Pretty awesome results for a $900 system from newegg.com. If anyone needs an upgrade, head on over there.
This is a nice improvement of my old score of 1200 with my now retired computer .

384 ddr ram
p4 1.3 ghz
geforce 4 ti 4200 (64 mb)
2600 on high
2500 on low (yes, my low is lower  )
I run with my background reso on 1000x1000, overlay on 1200x800(something like that), and all the other settings on uncompressed (best quality on everything), sound enabled.
No lag whatsoever.
If you get above 2000 on high, you're fine.Currently Playing:

Old Comp:
Intel Celeron 1.2 ghz
512 SDram
40 gig 5200 rpm HD
ATI Radeon 8500LE
High resolution-2100
Low Resolution-2200
I built a new custom comp a couple of weeks ago:
P4 3.0ghz 800mhz FSB
512 DDR SDRAM
160gig 7200rpm Maxtor Diamond Max HD
And I reused my old ATI Radeon 8500LE for the time being, until around Christmas when I get a new Videocard.
High Reso new comp - 3600
Low Reso new comp - 4600
.... I know that old videocard of mine is really slowing me down. I can't wait to get my new videocad and see what I can pull. Cost wise, I'm leaning towards the 9600XT possibly. Should pull much better numbers.
So far though, my coputer isn't having any problems running FFXI, the only time where there is choppyness is in town at the auction house where there's like 70 people in front of me running all over the place. Other than that, no probs whatsoever.

Specs:
Athlon XP 2500+ oc'ed to 2.2
2 x 512 PC3200 DDR RAM
Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro
160 GB HardDrive
SoundBlaster Audigy (not sure specifics)
Stock cooling on heatsinks and such
6 case fans
Low Res: 4600
High Res: 3800 (someting like that)
For the Direct 3D error, make sure that you have upgraded all of your drivers and the newest version of DirectX. Not sure about your hardware compatibility.
On this system I can run with all settings maxed, just fine.41 NIN / 29 THF / 18 SAM / 7 RDM / 8 WAR

1.7ghz AMD XP
256 mbs of RAM
ATI radeon 9800 128mb.(PCI)
Low-1550
high-1500
I've already purchased a radeon 9800 pro with 128 mb of ram. Any predictions on how well my benchmark will score then?Pure genius is the ability to convert thoughts to actions.

Video Card Driver:
http://www.video-drivers.com/drivers/31/31548.htm (I think that's it)
Just run the EXE and it should install.
I would definately upgrade to that 9600 Pro, probably getting some more RAM according to what kind you have. Also you need to make sure your processor is kind of fast.41 NIN / 29 THF / 18 SAM / 7 RDM / 8 WAR
