PCI slots are usually white and are lined up in a perfect row. AGP slots are a different color and should be right above your top PCI slot, they are also set back a little to the right of the PCI slots.Beacause ten billion years' time is
so fragile, so ephemeral...
it arouses such bittersweet,
almost heartbreaking fondness.

open your comp, if the graphics card is on a white/tan connecter next to other white/tan connecters the same size, it's PCI, if it's on a slightly longer connecter that is brown or a different color than the rest, it's agp. if you have a card at or above gf3/radeon 8500, it's almost always going to be agp.

AGP Slots. PCI Slots. They are both slots inside of your computer, most newer (last 4 or so years usally have them, but I'm probaly wrong.. probaly earlier) computers have them. AGP is 'newer' than PCI slots. AGP slots are meant for your graphics card, and they can operate at faster speeds than your PCI slot, so you can get a performance boost. PCI slots can hold your graphics card(s) along with all your other slots, for example a ethernet card, firewire card, sounds card, etc.
I thing that it doesn't matter what slot you use, but rather if your card works with FFXI, works with DirectX8.1 (Thats what the Japanese version used) and can performance well. So basically if you got good marks on the benchmark than you are set.

my old comp has 4 pci slots, a 4x agp slot(that or 2x, but i think it is 4x), and 2 of the old slots that pci slots replaced(it has a modem there, since it's 8/16 bit, it's useless. pci is 32 bit connection). that comp is from the year that the p2 reached it's 450mh limit(it owned back then, now i can't run games without lagging like crazy or shutting down). that makes it over 5 years. both agp and pci have been around since before the original pentium if im not mistaken(mpeg and jpg files too).
