  • Benchmark Scores

Hi, I just recently upgraded to a Radeon 9700 PRO 128 MB vid card, and after some searches, people seem to score 4000+ who own a Radeon 9700 PRO as well, compared to my scoring ~3000 on the benchmark tests.

So I was just wondering if the scores depend on factors such as processor speed, amount of RAM, etc. or if there are some features I have not enabled that would help my score.

It depends on your pro. as well. What is your pro. speed?

i suggest you post the specs, i.e. cpu, ram amount and type, maker of the card, etc. . most of the people i would guess have a high end system or are overclocking. try running the test with nothing else running.... fell almost sorry for the people with 9700 pro getting under 5000, my ti 4200 with 64 mb and a 2.5 gh p4 gets a 5028 with AIM running and 4 internet pages up.

CPU is a major part of the benchmark. Antialiasing and anisotropic filter stuff makes the graphics look prettier, but results in lower benchmark scores.

          should i purchase a GAINWARD PowerPack ! Ultra/650XP Golden Sample (GeForce4 Ti4200) 128MB DDR+VIVO ,
          ABIT GeForceFX 5600 – 128MB DDR or a ATI Radeon 9500 Pro (AGP8x/ DirectX 9.0) 128MB DDR+DVI+TV-Out??

i don't suggest you getting the fx unless you are going to use games requiring dx9. from what i can tell, a 4200 with 64mb ddr can kick the crap out of a 5600 with 256mb ddr. it's also much cheaper.

The bench mark isnt really all that useful.

                The benchmark is bandwidth driven.

If you have a Fast P4 800mhz bus Cpu, a gig of duel channel ram, and an 8500LE You can break 5000 no problem....

And if you have an Athlon with a gig of ram and a 9800pro

You can have trouble breaking 5000.

                Isnt that ODD?

It Means the Game (or maby just the bench mark) is memory and bus bandwidth intensive

Having the fastest grpahics card wont really get you more interems of speed in some cases

BUt it will make your game look better.

I have a Pentium 4 CPU 1.79GHz, 512MB of RAM, and a Geforce FX 5600 Ultra 250MB Vid Card. And I bench at 2827, any suggestions?

Edit: I'm planning on reformating because I have a mass load of 'slow down' viri. Think that would help also?

Well, I have an Athlon XP 2100+ and a GeForce 4 Ti4600, and I get 5148, so im not really sure how accurate this whole benchmark thing is.

The bottleneck in computer gaming systems is not the cpu. It has never been the cpu. If the bottleneck was at the cpu, neither Nvidia nor ATI would continue making graphics cards because it won't effect the performance too much anyways. I'm not saying th bottleneck is at the graphics card either. It all depends on the way your computer is set up. Your cpu, temperature of computer, ram, ram speed, graphics card, graphics card memory and speed, and just the overall performance of how your computer runs. If you have 20 other programs clogging up the ram, it's not going to help your benchmark score any.

The best way to get an accurate benchmark score is to set your antistrophic filter and FSAA to program control. That way, the benchmark will know when to turn it on or off "if it even does this" and it'll also give a fairer score. If you forced 4x AA, it's going to give you a lower score.

                        600 mhz
                        about 300 mb ram
                        Geforce 2

                        Final Score: 1056

My jaw dropped when i saw this, i didnt think i'd break 1000. Im gonna totally upgrade my computer hopefully at the end of this month

                              Wow.. I got a 2447 with this:

                              AMD Athlon 1500
                              Radeon 8500 64mb
                              Win XP
                              512mb DDR

I thought my score was ok till i started seeing people with 5k Going to see if there's anything I can do to make it better. Thanks for the suggestions provided here.

Even if I can't get it higher.. it looked good enough for me to be able to play.. so if it gets no better.. so be it I spose .. hehe
