    Confirmed: A Persona 4 anime series is in the works- Destructoid

    As was rumored and hinted at[/URL], there is, in fact, a Persona 4 anime adaptation in the works, and you can check out its website here.

    Besides the announcement, of course, the page features the "First Four" cast members of Chie Satonaka, Yukiko Amagi, Yosuke Hanamura, and the protagonist, who, interestingly, is called "Yu Narukami", rather than "Souji Seta", his name from the manga adaptation and the currently accepted "canon" name.

    So far all the voice talents from the game will be reprising their roles, including Yui Horie (Bakemonogatari's Tsubasa, Kampfer's Akane) as Chie, Ami Koshimizu (Spice and Wolf's Holo, Code Geass' Kallen) as Yukiko, Showtaro Morikubo (Naruto's Shikamaru, FF7: Advent Children's Kadaj) as Yosuke. And yes, despite his general silence throughout the game, he did have a voice actor, in this case Daisuke Namikawa (Black Lagoon's Rock, Bleach's Ulquiorra).

    The series will come courtesy of studio AIC (Blood+, GUNxSWORD), directed by Seiji Kishi (Seto no Hanayome, Galaxy Angel Rune). As is only correct and proper, Shoji Meguro will be composing the music, and Shigenori Soejima will be providing the character design.
    With these details in mind, you may now commence bitching and moaning that this isn't Persona 5 or Persona 4 Portable.
    Now I will go over to the Atlus form and roll my eyes at the morons that will beg and plead for them to keep the Japanese voices, even though Atlus USA has nothing to do with localizing anime.

    I do hope it gets a stateside treatment, though. Its easily my favorite RPG ever. Well, maybe tied with FFVI, I still go back and forth on those two.

      Persona Trinity Soul was terrible, but this is actually based on Persona 4 which is good, whereas Trinity Soul was loosely referenced Persona 3 and decided to rip the canon off its hinges.

        yeah, but we know how this is going to go. EVERY SINGLE EPISODE: "Hey guys, mystery time!" "The answer is clearly" "LET'S SEARCH" "Oops, well let's go find them!" " "YOU'RE NOT ME ;_;" "Fight!" "YaaaaaaaaaayBUTOHNO!"

        It was already basically episodic.

          Here's the trailer.

          [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_Vav3Lq2-g]YouTube - Persona 4 Anime (ペルソナ4 アニメ) - Trailer / PV3[/ame]

          Looks pretty close to the concepts and anime scenes from the PS2 game.

          Youske, Teddie, Chie, Yukiko... .don't surprise m on the characters that come next. Could it be.... Kanji, Rise and Naoto?

          There are some angles I'd like to see fleshed out and I think they have some space to play with the canon here. I mean, you can't cover all the social links and the protagonist probably needs a love interest which leaves him with four main cast options.

            There are an assortment of teasers for P4 The Animation on YouTube, but this latest one has an new song and its an compilation of all those, just follow the link to it as D-Toid/Japanator's videos don't seem to hotlink to forum code:

            http://www.destructoid.com/newest-pe...g-207232.phtml

            Rise is as gratuitously presented as I would expect her to be, or at least her shadow is.

            All the other trailers I saw seemed to feature Shoji Meguro's music in them, so that's another benefit to the show.

              It feels too rushed (the pacing I mean), but that's what happens when you try to cram all of the content from an RPG in half hour episodes.

              Just like with Valkyria at the time, I wish they had gone for the side stories and deeper character development rather than a straight up animation of the main plot. orz

                    I'm finally watching the series on Hulu now, I figured rather than buy/rent and replay the PS2 version I can wait for the PS Vita version I already have on pre-order. so this will be my pre-P4A refresher and I'll save my rematch with Margaret for P4G.

                      Persona 4 Anime Blu-ray Release In U.S. Will Only Have English Audio | Siliconera

                      Don't mind me, I'm just posting this to continue to beat it into Ray's head that its sometimes licensing and timing that's been the issue in regards to localization and Dual Audio. In this case, its licensing that's keeping the Blu-Ray version of the series from coming to the states with Japanese voice tracks. Yep, the BD will cost $10 more and not have a Japanese voice option. The DVD set of the first 12 episodes will cost $60 less.

                      Also, just pointing it out that its just cheaper to buy or rent the actual games or just Hulu it than buy the whole series of DVD and BD.

                        BBQ, is it just my imagination or they are doing the exact same thing and for the exact same reasons as they did with the game?

                        And in the end it's all for the sake of preventing Japanese fans from importing the NA version instead of buying the more expensive Japanese release.

                          PS > Now that I think about it this also gives an insight of things to come as the petrodollar loses value.

                          For now they are doing their best to keep prices the same in the US while trying to block places with stronger currencies from importing from the cheaper region. But once the dollar falls enough publishers will have to start increasing prices for games in the US as the dollar falls and eventually stop localizing content once it's shrunk enough (should that happen). And what makes me see it that way is that that's exactly the reason why Latin America doesn't have any official Video Game market whatsoever. As the currencies are so weak that it makes no sense for dinosaur publishers to sell at a Latin American price point.

                          So people in NA or more precisely the US (as the Canadian Dollar is already starting to surpass the USD) need to pray so it's just an increase of prices should the Petrodollar fall low enough. <_<;

                            Atlus and Index Corp were not a factor in the decision, but reverse importing was the culprit again where the BD was concerned.

                            It probably has more to do with BD being a less popular format than DVD to start with and streaming being more popular, not your socioeconomic babble. BD has never hit its stride because of these factors and that makes BD releases for anime a bigger risk.

                              I'm just curious how they give P4 a full season of anime and try to condense P3 into a movie. That's a bit of stretch for me.
