      So I started watching Clanaad based on this thread.

      I thought it was going to be boring and annoying, but it turned hilarious after about the 12 mark. I don't know what drove them to start out so melancholy with this show.

      Also, Netflix got a massive jolt of content in their anime instant streaming section today

      Desert Punk
      Witchblade
      Claymore
      Darker than Black
      Fruits Basket
      Soul Eater

          Hey~ they have Gurren Lagann on Netflix too. :D The perfect chance to bypass my laziness and watch it.

          Is the dub as good as the sub?

            GL's Dub voices were terrible, I was disappoint.

            I've watched those Five. Xenosaga is pretty much just like watching the cutscenes and story from the game except in anime form. Samurai 7 and Claymore are two of my all time faves. Afro Samurai is worth watching.

              So you missed the girl beating up the bikers and the shy girls overzealous father in the first episode?

              Watched the first episode of Desert Punk, DMC and Xenosaga.

              DMC - DMC wasn't much on substance to start with, but damn, this is like DMC: The Fanfic
              Xenosaga - I like the little embellishments they add here and there, but its sad to say the story pacing of the game was better

              Desert Punk - Sheer, unbridled awesome. Its already vastly more watchable then Gurren Lagann.

                I'm told that the Japanese voices are manlier. Having watched the movies, which came subbed no ifs, ands, or buts, that statement is not completely off the mark, either. Actually, if you wanted to be lazy about it, you could just watch both movies and get the entire story compressed to a few hours and then made even more awesome.

                But, yeah, it's not like the dub was terrible, either . . .

                  Ah, you are on the first episode..... Ya the first episode made me want to watch more but it became less and less funny as time wore on.

                    TGM, did you watch the first season? It's pretty standard light-hearted romantic comedy anime stuff.

                    It's the second season where it gets all emo.

                    Also TGM, another show you might want to watch, Nana. I watched the first season (second season not out yet afaik) a while back, it's around 50 episodes (with a few recaps), so it'll keep you busy a few days. Pretty good show; it's a drama more than a comedy, but it's still pretty fun to watch. I've started reading the manga recently since it's one of the few I recognize and I can actually understand what's going on mostly, and the school's resource center has at least a couple dozen volumes of it in stock.

                            The Xenosaga anime so far seems to follow the story almost word-for-word, but Albedo is introduced into the story much ealier and the Realian that accompanies him seen later is introduced earlier and characterized. Also, Virgil replaces the U-TIC spy for the main story rather than getting callously iced by KOS-MOs early on because he was in the way of her firing line.

                            Other than those things, yeah, it seems to follow the story. How they just revived Virgil late in the game was kinda lame anyway. I mean, he died by a Gatling gun tearing through him. Kinda hard to come back from that.

                              I wish Senjou no Valkyria (Chronicles) had followed the game exactly and go deeper into the interactions between Squad 7's members.

                              The way the anime was, playing the game is 10x better.





                              PS > Though the anime wasn't bad itself and maybe it got better later on (couldn't stomach to watch beyond ep 15), just not as good as the Game.
