Any of you wach Robotech it's kinda old but it is cool. it is about jetfighets that turn into giant robots or a plain with arms. but it also exsist a newer version called macross macross pluss and movies and lot more. the first robotech came in 1985

I've only watched the Macross part of Robotech... but Macross Plus is one of my favorite short series. Great music and production values among other things. Never seen Macross 7 personally, but I've watched a bit of DYRL and all of Macross II. Macross Zero is the latest... episode one is out, you can get it on Bittorrent and probably other programs, but there's a few months between each episode (second one due out this month!)

You might know this, but way back in 1985 there was an anime witch was made by Japanese and Americans, it did work wery well, must be the only good American Anime, but of course they had Japanese help. That series was the start of the Macross saga. The first series of the Macross saga was Robotech witch I own every episode given out on VHS, witch is around 20 episodes... however I never got to see the end because the series is at least 90 episodes.

MY Favorite part of the Robotech series is the first season which has Rick Hunter, Mrs. Hayes, Minmei ect.... IT was just so awesome it was one of the first anime series i ever watched. I still liked it even when the series switched over to Lt. Sterling, then it went to the Invalid, which i never completely watched because they stopped showing it (back on the old toonami when Moltar was the host).

Macross = own independent series

Robotech = 3 completely different cartoons that some stupid american slapped together and made a series out of. the first part of which was Macross.

The first series of Macross dealing with Hikaru(Rick Hunter in robotech), Misa Hayes(Lisa), and Minme is 36 episodes. If you are interested the first Macross series I suggest you completely ignore the Robotech dvd's and videos and pickup the Macross box set. http://store.yahoo.com/animenation/av002-230.html Theres the link to part one. Its been completely restored and looks 100 times better then what was put on the Robotech videos/dvds.

Theres also a new Macross series coming out soon. It deals with events prior to the original Macross and the development of the Veritech fighter. I can't wait.

macross/robotech both rock and that new series is called macross zero but u wont see that stateside anytime soon

Macross Zero Episode 1 subbed is OUT. You can either find a copy of the DVD on eBay or go through BitTorrent or other means to download it.

Episode 2 has been out since the 23rd... currently grabbing a torrent of it right now.

I believe it's not licnesed, but don't expect it to stay that way for long.

I agree with peet, if you plan on getting Macross at all, I highly suggest the AnimEigo DVDs. The picture is cleaned up, its unedited (ie: names left intact, Hikaru instead of Rick), and left in Japanese. It's pricier than ADV's Robotech, but if you're really interested it's well worth it.
