    Just watched Gurren Lagann the other day, and now I honestly wonder why the hell I hadn't watched it earlier. It took pretty much everything I have seen in other mecha animes and combined the epicness from them into one small drillbit. The "Who the hell do you think I am?!" line always cracked me up. Anime was too awesome so I raved to a friend of mine to watch it, and he's been hooked in ever since then. Need to get around to watching the compilations when I get a chance.

    Just started watching Legend of the Galactic Heroes... Now this anime is old, but man do I like it. Kinda fills in that void that I got from watching Tytania since there may or may not be a second season of it. LotGH's OVA is 110 episodes, and this will probably be the most episodes I've ever watched of a single anime at one time. (Unless you count Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny as one series since it is a continuation of the story's prior events.)

      The first movie is fucking awesome. I can't wait for the second one.

      Also you should watch Gunbuster and then Diebuster. Not only are they awesome in their own right, that's also where TTGL gets the cross-armed pose, the two pilot/main character (i.e. Simon + Kamina) theme, and possibly the Shades = Badassery trope from.

        I think the second one is supposed to be out on dvd either the end of this month or early next month, so it should probably be subbed sometime in January.

        That is on my list as well. I have seen the Gunbuster/Diebuster pack in the Blu-Ray section of best buy. Always meant to check it out and never got around to it. I'll see if I can grab it this weekend for a watch.

          I think the second one is supposed to be out on dvd either the end of this month or early next month, so it should probably be subbed sometime in January.
          January 27 is the DVD release date in Japan, I believe.

            Still watching Legend of Galactic Heroes and I'm almost 40 episodes in now. There are two main characters in opposing militaries who are battling against each other. The war was going on 140+ years before Reinheardt or Yang even got involved in it. I believe the origin of the anime is of German descent since many of the locations, people, and ships have German names. I did get a chuckle when one of the ship called "Leonidas" launched a bunch of fighter planes/ships called Spartans into battle.

            Reinheardt reminds me of Lelouch from Code Geass, he's cool and calculated usually thinking 20 moves ahead, but if you really piss him off he loses all control of himself. Also using everything and everyone he can to accomplish his goal.

            Yang reminds me of Fan Hyulick (sp?) from Tytania, cool collected and nothing really seems to bother him, tactics are incredible and he usually thinks 20 moves ahead as well.

            There is also a huge cast of supporting characters and during the first few episodes of the anime, they repeatedly show the names of all the characters so you can try to get their names melded in your mind. There is alot of military strategy, backstabbing, and huge space battles in this anime. The funny thing is that even though the battles are huge sometimes killing 1million+ soldiers, there seems to be a endless supply of redshirts soldiers and redshirt admirals LOL.

                  Another AMV with big explosions, action shots and what not. I doubt there are any real spoilers, but if you haven't seen Gurren Lagann I wouldn't even recommend watching either videos.

                    ADD: Yeah, both videos seem to fall in the "very spoiler-y" category.

                      Not really. I hate youtube and its use of how it picks out the thumbnails for the videos. The other two possible thumbnails weren't much better. Trust me lol.

                      Galactic Heroes Finished... Started watching Major. I've finished seasons 1 and 2, and am now working on season 3. Just about to finish up Mobile Suit Gundam as well.

                        It would be nigh-impossible to do the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann OP justice. I think it's safe to say, though, that this guy goes beyond the impossible.
