  • does any of you feel looked down upon?

do any of you anime fans still get treated like kids/idiots/pornographic addicts whenever you tell someone you love anime or manga?Or do you feel things have improved and you are treated with more respect now?Has anyone had crazy or weird experiences involving people who don't apreciate animation towards anime/video games fans?
when I have the time,i'll add my 2 cents on that one.If anyone would like to start...thanks for your time.

Yeah, but as an anime fan, it's something you gotta live with.

Not just with anime, but don't ever let it get to you when people judge you. If you can just ignore them and let them be the idiots they are, then at least you'll know that you're the better person.

Unless of course, they're interested in anime and want to learn more about it, and end up askind dumb questions. :p Then by all means, give anime some support and birth more fans. :spin:

Most people dont even know i watch anime, its rarely a subject even to some of my friends, im like the only one that watches anime.

And for being made fun of for it, thats kinda stupid thats like you making fun of him cause he goes to church(i dont), or plays sports, or anythign that person likes to do for fun.
you are here alone again, in your sweet insanity
all to calm, you hide yourself from reality
do you call it solitude? do you call it liberty?
when all the world turns away to leave you lonely

No one around where I live watches Anime except for a select few. I talk about it all the time to my friends, today I told them that I had just watched Spirited Away and loved it. They don't watch it though, maybe if they saw some they would like it. ^_^ I don't see anything wrong with watching anime, it's just like watching an animated Disney movie. =D

Rofl, its hilarious to hear you try to compare sitting in front of a TV to Religon. LMAO, i dont know where you've been, but its not a form of friggin entertainment.
I plan to live forever.. so far so good.

If you look at it from the right light, it can be Extreme.

As to the subject, yes I'm seen as strange to certain people. A 19 year old that watches cartoons that aren't even in his language is simply something some people can't comprehend. I don't remember ever being genuinely mocked or harrassed about it however, simply misunderstood.

Only problem I've encountered was with my highschool art teacher. I love to doodle in anime/manga style a lot, and some of it was dipping into my art. My art teacher considered it just "cartoons" though, and I begged to differ. So in the end, I just stopped taking art after my portfolio class. I want to show him some of Hyung Tae Kim's artwork, but it's a bit late for that now .

Most people at my school dislike it but don't say anything because a really popular girl likes it. ^_^ She is such a goddess.

EDIT: I take back the most thing... only about 1/2. I forgot about the emmense Asian population at my school. -_-; Still, anime doesn't come up very often except when fans are talking to each other.
Bah... prentend there's a pretty sig pic here.
