As long as you don't involve any of the alternate time lines (GGundam, GundamW), very much yes.
After having seen the original series (and Zeta, 008th, War in the Pocket, etc.), and comparing it to GundamW, I'm embarrassed I ever liked Wing.

How in the world can you hate G Gundam? It's a tribute to all of the super robot shows that spawned Gundam in the first place. Not only that, but the sheer concentration of cheese that show produces is enough to make me feel giddy like a school girl.

My favorite anime has to be FLCL. I could watch the 6 episodes over and over and not get tired. It's just simply amazing.

I think I'm still partially biased to older anime though ...

Best Anime - FLCL
Best OAV series - Bubblegum Crisis
Best TV series - Ranma 1/2
Best Movie(s ?) - Ghost in the Shell (But this Solid State Complex is right up there with the original and maybe Appleseed, although I have not forgotten about Akira either and I'm a huge fan of Hayao Miyazaki's movies so they would rank up there as well)

I just started watching The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and while I agree it's good anime, I can't say that it is the "best ever" seeing how I've watched a ton of anime, a good number of them that has not been licensed yet either.

Azumanga Daioh scares me, but I blame my friend for traumatizing me with etchi dōjinshi versions of Azumanga before I even got to watch (or read) the original. (He didn't warn me ahead of what I was to expect in the attachments)

Watch (or read. The manga and anime versions are both surprisingly good, with the anime winning out slightly for the voices and color.) the whole thing, it's very nice if you like wacky stuff. If you watch the anime, be sure to listen to the Japanese version, half the voices in the english version are like nails on a chalkboard. I've honestly heard better dubs by youtube fans.

I don't get why ecchi would bug you that much... even the hentai doujins aren't that bad. Last I saw >_>

I have absolutely no interest in ever seeing Evangelion, but it's by Gainax, so I highly doubt it could be anything less than great.

G Gundam is made of awesome and win. Yes it was different, so what? Very many series are constantly consistent, and G Gundam was a great tribute to Super Robot Shows. If your not into Super Robots and only into Real Robot shows, then yea, it's not gonna make sense and you won't like it. But I'm sure giant robots that size are real and believable in the first place.

That and Amuro hacks. Honestly, he's a monster in every anime he was in and his stats in every Super Robot Wars game are just as monstrous.

It's been a long time, but I also remember a group that was working on building much larger mechs, and there is plenty of interest from construction companies and... the military.

They are very much believable, and they could very really see military service within the century.
