  • Kino's Journey

Anyone seen this fantastic series? For those that haven't, I'll summarize:

Kino is a traveller, and Kino travels with a talking motorrad (motorcycle) named Hermes. They stay for three days (and only three) in various countries throughout a fantasy land, and the show is basically the story of each of these cultures that Kino visits.

This turns out to be a fantastic medium for allegory, philosophical questions and answers, and fable-like storytelling. The characters are well written and there's a definite emphasis on the human element in lots of the stories.

Both thought and emotion evoking. I should note the anime is based on a series of novels.

Some of the episodes are more ambiguous than others, and I'd love to discuss what people interpret them to be, especially when Kino meets the three men working on the railroad tracks.
The Knight of Faith resigns the dream, only to believe it.

Many tanks to Trita/Tagi for the signature.

Nice anime. Some of the stories are very nice, but some of them I did not got the meaning

It is funny that I don't realize Kino is a girl until very late in the series XD

Yep, some of them are more apparent than others. That's why I made this thread, maybe we can get some good discussion going!

The fact that she wore a dress in the third episode didn't tip you off?

I always thought the gender ambiguity was interesting. Kino also tends to fit the male stereotype. Tough, calm, rational.
