The best anime in the universe is definately Evangelion; hands down, Rurouni Kenshin is giving damn good competition though.

A good movie to look into would have to be Escaflowne

1. Dragon Drive
A virtual reality game where the players have a dragon created using thier dna to determine its stats. 38 episodes in all and very very good a more mature pokemon type anime.

2. Samurai Deeper Kyo
Difficult to describe it has demons, Samurai, legendary weapons and is set after a historical event. Of course the tragic tale of love hate and violence that involves several of the main characters just adds to the fun.

3.Shaman King
Your typical spirit summoning to do battle anime with lots of comedy. Its long very long and has an excessive number of cliff hangers. The laziest boy in the world is fighting to become king of all Shamans so he can have an easy life. His fiance of course is making sure he will win even if she kills him in the process.
