Alright, so I finished Samurai Champloo not to long ago and am now looking for something new to watch. My friend told me this was pretty good, but I just wanted a few other opinions on it before I started wasting my time on it.

Re: Samurai 7
Loved Samurai Champloo as well, but my favorite samurai related anime/manga is Blade of the Immortal (manga). I wish there were a well done anime for it, or anime at all but just manga form. I'm not sure where but I'm sure you can find it for free if interested.

Re: Samurai 7
I order you to watch Samurai 7!
No really Samurai 7 is amazing, it has a whole new take on how the samurai theme. The plot is set in a distant alternative future where the samurai is almost a forgotten subject. Nowadays the samurais had themselves implemented in big ass mechs in order to be more effective. But there are still those who swear themselves to the blade and now take up their sword again in order to protect and stop the exploitation of the rice farmers.
Its great style and a good plot. Based the movie The Seven Samurais (i think thats the name of it)
Samurai Champloo stood out due to the humour and the fusion of hip hop into it. This is much different but also very good! Dual Wielding katana man =p0wnage

Re: Samurai 7
If you like Samurai themed animes you should watch Samurai 7 (as you intend) and Otogi Zoshi. This last one is incredibly good and realistic while Samurai 7 is mecha centered. Both are great shows
Oh, and if you like manga, check Vagabond.I'm back! Sanim restored!

Re: Samurai 7
Samurai 7...
Hmmm, what does that title remind me of...
Oh yeah, the amazing film from Akira Kurosawa (Seven Samurai)
Hope the story isn't a rip-off, then I'd rather watch the film again (which is bound to be 100X better)
EDIT: Just read the other post. How lame. The reason why Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai was a huge hit and a masterpiece was that it completely transformed the Japanese film style from Jidai Geki to a more realistic scenario that encompassed the old feudal Japanese era. Putting mechanical shit and futuristic stuff in his work is just unfitting.Last edited by Kagerou; 03-13-2006, 08:45 AM.
