    Spirited Away Back in Action!

    After winning plenty of prestigious awards like the Golden Bear "Best Film" at the Berlin International Film Festival, the Oscar for "Best Animated Feature" at the Academy Awards, and plenty, PLENTY of others, Disney has finally taken the hint and will be giving Spirited Away (AKA "Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi"), directed by the master of animation, Hayao Miyazaki, a second theatrical release beginning March 28th. This Friday.

    If you haven't seen Spirited Away, I'd highly recommend it. It's by far the best anime film I've seen, and quite possibly the best film I've ever seen. If you've seen it once, see it again. If you've seen it three times, see it again. If you've seen it 50,000 times, SEE IT AGAIN!

    IT is pretty good, i watched it couple months back i liked it alot, just as something i could relax and watch, isnt it made by same peopel that made Princess Mononoke

      Yup, Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki, famous for Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro, and many more great classics.

        dude, i just saw a commercial and they are gonna be showing it in theaters, never been in theaters where i live, i might go see it who knows kinda be cool to see on big screen not my shitty 14 inch monitor

          Heh, I was pretty pissed when it was originally released in theaters over here... it was showing in like 2 hard to get to theaters (ie - Downtown Seattle, grr), showtimes were very limited and I ended up going to see it on a break between classes. :sweat: All the newspapers that reviewed it said "Great film, Disney went to great lengths to advertize it!", which is funny because I saw not one commercial on TV for it, not more than 2 newspaper ads in total beyond the actual reviews, and it was hardly a widespread release...

          Now it gets an Oscar and yeah, Disney got a hint that hey, it's a good movie, people like it, and maybe if you actually ADVERTIZE and put it in a few more theaters, it'll rake in a some dollars! People need to know it's there, and it needs to be readily available. Finally, last night I saw the commercial and I was like, wow, FINALLY a commercial! This time around it'll be showing at like 5 theaters in the area, a couple of which are easier to get to (still not as close as they could be :sweat: ) with 4 showings per day... that's a little bit better, but I still can't help but think they could have done just a bit more for it. :sweat:

                and just to let you know, the DVD release has not been delayed due to the recent theatrical rerelease. It's still scheduled for April 15th, along with two other excellent Miyazaki films, "Kiki's Delivery Service" and "Laputa: Castle in the Sky".

                    Yeah, they're just re-releasing it. I should probably pick up a DVD of it, my VHS doesn't play very well anymore. :sweat:

                      I got Laputa: Castle in the Sky a looooong time ago like 5 years ago from a Liquidation World store, and it's in English, I got it for only 2 dollars along with may DBZ movies at same price
                      I've just download Spirited Away and loved it...

                        Yup, I've lived in the area my whole life. :sweat: I have noticed the pickings are slim in the way of WA peoples playing FFXI, but hey, the more the merrier.

                          hehe, i just saw Spirited Away again tonight. I had to. I just couldn't help it. Every time I drive by that theatre and see "Miyzaki's..." on the board I gotta do somethin' about it!
