The Last and Only Samurai, All Shall Die at My Blade
I have to agree that people who use FF related names are kinda lame. Especially when you see it with the x's so you see the variation alot. I think my name is pretty original. I just made up a name that actually does sound like a name but isn't anything you've probably heard before.
You kill one man, your a murderer Kill many and your a conquerer Kill them all... your a God.
I seem to get quite a few invites, some surprise me. Most of my names though can be found in generally German, Japanese, Latin, Itallian, or French. I would do a few others too but they use some characters and all that first of if I got them in the name would be amazing in itself and second to some people they'd probably think it to be something like "1337" talk or just complete gibberish to them.
It would be intresting to see someone use Swahili. I won't because I could never seem to find a good name I would like from it. It kind of scarry too looking at it from an English prospect for the words Brother, Sister, Mother, and Father which are Kaka, Dada, Mama, Baba.
If I ever do use Swahili about the only word I found that seemed alright was Imara = "Strong".

my namesake is an NPC i made for a D&D game i GM'ed
the name i wanted was taken /huh, my fall-back was taken >.>, a few other variants and more appropriate heroric character names were taken ><. for the %^&@ of it I tried a Drow sorcerer NPC I made and it worked. doesn't mean I play him as a Drow, but actually as if I had gotten my first pick, that's why I'm glad last names aren't mandantory (no it isn't doUrden >.>)
so as far as i'm concerned this name was made to see the "light"
back when UO and FFVII came out, I thought it would be funny to be named Sephiroth or Cloud but since those names were taken I didn't even think to make a variation of it because I thought that would be lame. infinitely lamer now.
I could say something about the "drk" and "dark" variants, afterall putting drk in the search just gives "Dark Knights" and not anyone named drk... but I have friends named that so I wont comment.

I mean something that has been heard of a lot, a popular anime or show or something. If its something people cant recognize then how would anyone know? But i think that the various spellings of cloud, tifa, sephiroth, tidus, etc are stupid
People with those names piss me off. I refuse to party with them.
I don't know why, but I think they should die for having 'Xxcloudxxx' as a character name.
I have been using BahamutKaiser since I started playing online games. It was an my imaginary combination of Bahamut and Kaiser (dragons), I always thought it was cool, and my favorite character in all the FFs is bahamut, they just don't make cooler dragons.
With so many people playing and no spacing or punctuation in the names it is nearly impossible to find a natural name to use without blending 2 names together or making some Gibberish, I think MMOs should have better Naming options, the 2 part name system used in GW makes naming your character alot more efficient then FFXI.
Learning > Intelligence > Experience. Weak minds are subject to experience before realization. Inteligent minds understand quickly with minimal experience. Learned minds excersise knowledge gained from study, and do not require experience to reach realization. Which is your claim?
I get called <San d'Oria> a lot. I honestly did not pick this name because of the city. Still...no invites because of my name...then again haven't met a Windurt or Basock yet.
Wow, I've never really been with any players that have anime names. D: I've seen them in searches and running around in Jeuno, however. I've seen about 30 different variants of Sephiroth, several of other FFXI characters and many more from anime, including Belldandy, Batou, Jin (Coud either be from Xenosaga or Samurai Champloo) and Tatewaki.
i think names should also be origanal i mean if you want a name from an anime more power to ya but i think that when you have an anime name you will be somewhat like a "Poser" as in you pick names because mass amounts of people think they are cool and will like your character if you pick that name.
