  • So since we know the worst animes, what are the best???

I would say that the best are (and this is my opinon) FLCL, just for sheer wit and intellegent humor. Naruto for not only great animation but great storytelling as well (and lets not forget that shino was created due to naruto ) Tho it is truely 1 of the worst storylines in history, i will actually say the DB genra in general is a good anime because of the fact that it was truely ORIGINAL for its time. Well here are a few more random animes that I find good: Inuyasha, Yu-Gi-Oh (hey don't hate Yami has so of the funniest dialog in anime history, ex., "YOU CAN NEVER WIN MARIK FOR I NOT ONLY HAVE A POWERFUL DECK AND THE HEART OF THE CARDS, BUT I ALSO HAVE THE SUPPORT OF MY FRIENDS", what other anime do you know that can pull that off??, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Grappler Baki, and many more i can 't think of  . So in conclusion without anime the world would be a boring place....would it not???

I believe the best anime of all time is Neon Genesis Evangelion. Not only did it revolutionize mecha anime, it presented themes and character values not present in earlier anime.

The story, characters and mech designs of Evangelion are all superior to any other anime to date, in my opinion.

I have to agree that Evangelion is one of the best. It definitely deserves credit for being something that's still affects anime today (They even showed Eva: Redeath at this year's Fanime ). It was one of the very first titles that launched me into being an anime fan, actually. ^^

As for others, I beleive Slayers deserves much credit as well asCard Captor Sakura, possibly Nadesico, and Full Metal Alchemist and Naruto are the rage nowadays.

I'm one of the few people in the universe who didn't like Evangelion. Too whiney a protagonist, and too muddled in it's meaning. When I first started hearing things about how good it was, I bought the first 4 DVDs (eps 1-14 or so... that's almost 6 hours of EVA).

        I sold 'em on ebay.

I just didn't connect with the character or the story.

hmm, /nod, /nod, i see all of u guys points, tho i must agree to disagree evangelion was indeed and epic anime maybe not for character development but for the simple fact that thay redefined a genra, i mean seriously whoever thoght a giant robot could move fluently and even show humanistic characteristics?, not i, that really proved something to me . I mean evangelion is a catgeorgy of few, a anime for all but not for everyone . (wow that's quite deep)
a/w this is cool i guess i'll be doing many more of these in the near future, hope u guys enjoyed my 2 cents, and see u all on the battle field, /bow to all.

As for good series, I'm really digging on Fullmetal Alchemist right now, as well as the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex second season.

I've already posted several series/movies that I enjoy in other threads, so this one here will be my "Anime that's currently running" entry.

in my all time favorites, full moon wo sagashite is #1 by far. also ranking high are ROD-TV, any gundam series other than super deformed and g-gundam, and full metal panic? fumoffu (second highest on my list, just below full moon wo sagashite by maybe 1/100th of a percent)

Yeah, Doppelganger, I really liked the TV version of R.O.D., too, and I liked how they interwove it so deftly with the OVA's. that was class. I was a tad disappointed at the end, though it's hard to post here why, without giving away stuff. LOL

                      the best

Well, if you really want to know what the best anime of all time is then i guess I have to tell ya, but I suspect you've already figured out that its Saint Seiya ) (aka. The Knights of the Zodiac). Why, I hear you ask? Well, Saint Seiya is probably the anime which got most non-japanese people hooked on anime since their youth and is probably the most memorable ever. The characters aren't stale and cardboard cutout-esque like a lot of anime characters can be, all the personalities in Saint Seiya have a certain depth to them and expand as the series progresses, even the enemies are more believable because of this. However, one cannot deny that it is old school, StSeiya finished in 1987 but has been around ever since. Half of the new Hades chapter has just been animated in 2003 and a new movie was just released this year. I am a fan of Naruto, Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Inuyasha and so forth, but even though all these series are relatively new giving them a 'new edge to them', StSeiya still stands out among them. If any of you know this serie you'd know exactly why I think it's the best ^_^ Be sure to check it out!
The noble knight of the chains,
                      adios

Knights of the Zodiac--the English dubbed and editied version made no sense and was utter ***p due to violence being cut and blue blood (I mean WTF, it was shown at 11:30pm, past bed time so why?). However if by Saint Seiya you refer to the unedited and well dubbed versions such as the Japanese(naturally) and the Spanish and French versions (that actually have emotion and don't say 'dude' and have quite poetic scripts) then I agree Andromeda.

                          just my 2 cents

Well I'll give my 2 cents I'm kinda of a fan of the short anime's but meh I do love naruto I also like RaXephon the starting theme is just uber. I didn't like Evangilion to much just cuz of the ending. The ending got so confusing to me it got me mad and up to this day I still don't get it  hmm I do also like Inyuyasha and I started watching this one anime called Ragnarok the animation since I used to play RO before I played FFXI and its pretty nice also only 26 eps yet it's still very deep. And one of my Favorite anime's in the world HAS GOT TO BE TRIGUN lol I loved that anime from the moment I saw it. Its comical yet serious kinda like naruto every once in a while heh I just love that anime the most Well any way that was my 2 cents

                          Later

Heh because I'm to lazy to start searching the net constantly for any new anime I got a source I go to that gives you just about every anime I've ever seen or heard about. Just go to DVD Planet be carefull though they don't seperate the adult stuff there so if you select one look at it's genre to help identify what type it is. Though I doubt anyone would not be able to identify the adult ones it's so blantantly obvious you'd have to be a real idiot to not know.

Anyway that gives a good lists of them and even lists off many of the upcoming ones also.

Now to best ones Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Read Or Die (ROD), R.O.D. the TV, Kiddy Grade, Last Exile, and Aquarian Age are the ones I've been enjoying recently.
