i need someone to give me a short review/opinion of this anime
i was almost coaxed into buying the dvd because of the art on the box
but besides the good art is this good story wise?

Hmm, I just finished watching episode 9, and so far it's shaping up to be a pretty good anime. You'll have to bear with it for the first two-three episodes. It's pretty confusing since there are a few mysterious characters with their hidden agendas ^^ It gets much better as the story progresses. I would recommend it.

One thing I don't recommend is buying the anime DVD. Get the fansubs since they do a much better job in translating anime, free of you download, cost much less if you check anime trading rings.

I only watched the first 3 or 4 episodes and didn't bother to watch the remaining 22 episodes... I guess in some ways that's a negative review of it since it didn't hold my attention

I suppose to really enjoy the series you have to suspend reality a bit and accept the characters, there's a few too many characters that have complex pasts at first, and its a little hard to follow, you wonder about their motivations constantly

the main appeal of the show is in its fight scenes, obviously, as the title states, you get a lot of samurais and you also get a lot of ninjas and monsters too (like gigantic scorpion looking bad guys)

the art, as you noticed, is quite good, almost good enough to justify watching the series by itself, but not quite that much

there's a large cast of characters and a big legendary story at work, and a whole butt-load of fighting along the way, I think its highly enjoyable if you like the samurai/ninja genre and other titles like Kenshin, Ninja Scroll, or Naruto

I dont know, i kinda liked the entire 26 series. But everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I mean if you liked Rurouni Kenshin or Ninja Scroll, you might like this. The series is short so might just want watch it through (whereas 92 eps for kenshin). But find out more through the web about Samurai Deeper Kyo and then make your decision

Eh, it's alright. Nothing really special about it which is probably why I stopped watching it at about episode 4. Shouldn't really say nothing special, but there was just nothing to keep me wanting more.

This anime is really low budget animation wise... in most parts of the anime there is not much motion, just someone talking and from what I heard the manga has a completely different and better storyline.

for the low budget sdk was a pretty cool anime, (the person that mentioned budget above noticed this too, but for the other ppl's sakes...) the fighting is quite... bad not horrific but for a samurai anime lover like me, it just doesn't quite perfect it.

Manga Translations have been put on hold (yes I know, for a long time) Requesting raws, anything you have will be great, pm me or preferrably email me.

I agree, it was a good anime but for only 26 episodes, it cut itself short. The manga is still on going getting deeper into the plot where the anime barely goes skin deep. Nonetheless, its worth watching since it will take less than a week to view it all and analyze unlike other animes that are 90 plus episodes that might keep you watching till you grow old or bore u, missing out the entire storyline.
