    wellllll...

usually i see a series that might interest me, i check out the studio and the development team to see if any of my favorites are in there. then i'll look it up on the web to get more background, and if it really grabs me, i go out and buy the first DVD. if i like it a lot, i sell the DVD and wait it out for the Box Set, and get that.

Of course, with smaller series i don't bother with Box Sets, cuz those rip u off in 3-4 DVD sets. Then I buy each DVD, and I celebrate by inviting my friends over and watching it like 3 times.

...they usually don't like it as much, cuz its usually shoujo or something with minimal action

If I see an anime that interests me I go download it. if I feel that the anime is really good and worthwhile, I buy the dvd's after watching all of them.

I know Pai Pai is against this, but this way I get to see what I'm going to buy before I do.
And box sets and dvd's here are a HUGE rip off, unless I order it off of ebay or something.

In stores Eva box set is like $150, and I don't even think that includes the movies
I got box set and movies off of ebay for like 40.

And some anime you just HAVE to download because they aren't out on dvd or anything. Like Inu Yasha, it's a tv show, and unless I feel like waiting years for the newest episodes, I have to download it. (I have episodes 1-96 on my computer right now).

and omg, I saw that they were going to show Evangelion on cartoon network, I almost cried because I know they'll muder it to no extent.

It's like watching a north american movie or reading a book. It's just another medium to "get away from it all".

I agree with davidmmm9, I usually find out about an anime from a friend, then I look up info on it on websites.. if I like it I download the first few episodes.. if I like it then I buy the dvds.. btu with some you have to download it.. like Inuyasha.. I'm too them to come out on dvd sometimes.. so end up downloading the whole series.. (eps 1-96 of inuyasha I have) plus, I don't like too many dubs.. so I don't like getting them..

hmm, well reikou, i am a somewhat impulsive buyer, if i see something that looks cool, ill usually just go buy it :p but usually when i do that with anime, I usually intend to buy it, but when i get to the store (usually Suncoast, if anyone knows any better places with better prices in/near northern VA or just somewhere in VA, let me know) i usually just decide to go get a game of some sort :p that, and the stuff i see at suncoast usually doesnt look very good.

check ebay, suncoast is insanely over priced, I got three dvd box sets for the cost of one at suncoast.
