what is your fav anime, how did you get into anime, and how long have you been a fan?

  • #2
    Rurouni Kenshin

Hmm... How I got into anime. When I lived in Fort Collins, Colorado, my favorite local card shop was open. So I went in to play some Magic, I go into the back room to see who was playing, and as I walked in I noticed all the curtains were closed and it was dark, I looked to the back of the room and there was a huge screen. Guess what it was playing? Anime of course. So I sat down and watched some. As the store was closing, I went into the back and asked the owner what all that was. He replied " It's called anime. This club comes here every third saturday of the month. Check it out, it's free, and you get free food. " So, I started to show up every third saturday to watch my favorit anime. Rurouni Kenshin.

How long have I been a fan? Let's see, I first checked it out when I was 11, and I am almost 16 now so...About 5 years now.

Ps: Down with Cartoon Network killing EVA!

Late one night at my cousin's house me and his brother and my brother were all up late watching TV. We flipped it on to Cartoon Network and lo and behold it's Gundam Wing. First gundam I ever saw was Epyon... man he looked awesome. Saw that when I was about 9 I guess. Bout 4 or 5 years of Anime.

My Favorite anime is "Berserk" anime doesn't get better then that. Plus Gattsu is just a bad ass.( I have more favorites so i just picked Berserk).

I first got into it when I saw "Vampire Hunter D."

I've been a fan for probably 15yrs now , ever since I saw Vampire Hunter D in the middle 80's.

          hmm, long way back...

I started out with Samurai Pizza Cats when I was like 5 or 6. Damn that show still kicks ass.

Of course there were your other domestic anime series broadcast on TV, like Robotech, Transformers, and Speed Racer.

When Sailor Moon became popular I really liked it. (Then when I was about 12 I realized how atrocious the english version was...ugh.)

Of course, then there was Dragonball Z. Any anime fan liked this show at one point and time. From there I moved on to bigger and better (much better  ) things.

Ahh, behold, my first time reading Neon Genesis Evangelion. I was about 12 or 13...I went to a comic shop and picked up the first issue...and I was hooked from the beginning (and still am)

From there, I started to watch more series, like Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, and a bunch of others that are popular today.

My favourite is Eva, but I have a few others that I hold in high esteem. I'm still a big Sailor Moon fan, and I really love To Heart. (I mainly enjoy shoujo, 'cuz I find 'em to be more down-to-earth and meaningful.) My favourite studios would have to be GAINAX, Ghibli, and CLAMP...yeah.

Hehe cool responses, my fav anime is Rurouni Kenshin, umm the first anime ive seen was Vampire Hunter D, i didnt really like it back then cuz i was like 8 or 9, then i watched when i was a teen and really liked it, so basicly Vampire Hunter D and Tenchi muyo! movie 1 (Tenchi Muyo in love) were animes that dragged me in, and of course DBZ too, my sister used to watch Sci fi saturday anime, so she created a anime demon out of me. ive seen tons and tons of series, i have 90 anime dvds, so iam a big collecter. Berserk is a great anime, eva is cool too, i bought the boxset on dvd, i cant get into it for some reason dunno why.... but any if you want me to name off the ones ive seen feel free to ask, you can name off all the ones you seen too!!

hmm, i suppose i havent really been a fan of anime that long, perhaps 4 or 5 years, and i cant really say what my favorite anime is, cuz i havent really seen any series, just a buncha movies. and my first anime experience was "galaxy express 777" which, after seeing it, i just started ending all names and such with 777 :spin: it was pretty bad, but back in the day, i liked it. i think i saw it on, like sci-fi or somethin at like 1 am or something. ive been trying to find it, to watch it again to see how it was, cuz i dont really remember (my memory's pretty bad). welp, thats about it.

My favourite anime would be Super Dimensional Fortress Macross. I don't think anything else will top that for me, especially these days with the trend of "pop"/mainstream anime being put out. I've always watched anime. I remember first watching Tetsuwan Atom/Astroboy as a kid and then discovering Macross. It just went on from there. Actually, I prefer manga to anime.

I also have to clarify that I do not consider Robotech an anime series. I consider Macross to be Macross, Southern Cross to be Southern Cross, and Mospeada to be Mospeada. However, I also won't deny the important role that Robotech played in the 80s wave of anime introduction to North America.

My first two anime: Akira and Vampire Hunter D, both when I was younger. Either aren't very good to watch at a young age... probably because for one, they're too complex, and two, they're both incredibly violent. After that, my dad brought me home a DBZ dub from the phillipenes. It was pretty good at the time for me, so I guess that's when I got really hooked.

Hmm, I started watching anime a long time ago, around 11-12 years I believe. Back when I was a kid, I remember watching
Robotech, Speed Racer, and other domestic broadcasts available in my area. It sparked my interest in other animes and soon I started watching Japanese anime with my friend (Super anime fan ^^) She introduced me to all kinds of anime particularly shoujo series available only in Japan. My all time favorite at that time was Maison Ikkoku.
Afterwards the top animes on my list was Rorouni Kenshin, Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Initial D, Nadesico, and many others I can't think of right now ^^
About 2 years ago, a Japanese rental store opened up near my area and I started to watch Japanese TV dramas. Current favorites are To Heart and Love Generation.
My Recent favorites are Chobits, Full Metal Panic, Azumanga Daioh, Tokyo Underground, Spirited Away, Jungle Guu . . . (too much to list)

I got into anime with Sailor Moon, then Pokemon, then DBZ, then moved onto Ranma 1/2, Inu-Yasha, Maison Ikkoku, Fushigi Yuugi, Kodomo no Omocha, then towards Gokudo Kun Mannyuki, Great Teacher Onizuka, and Excel Saga...
