    something i've always thought about...

Final Fantasy VI - Escaflowne: Seperated at birth???

SPOILERS MAY BE CONTAINED *depending on what you think a spoiler is*
ps. this is based on the tv series, to the movie.

Escaflowne came out after FFVI, but i think it's obvious to me at least, that the creators are huge RPG fans, especially Final Fantasy. Just take a look at the similarities.

    The World:
FFVI-a world controlled by the "evil" Empire, which rules from the gigantic mechanized city of Vector. Only a small sector of people are willing to stand up the empire, and although with little chance of winning, they somehow pull through.

Escaflowne-a world controlled by the "evil" Empire, which rules from the gigantic mechanized city of Ziabok*spelling??*. Only a small sector of people are willing to stand up the empire, and although with little chance of winning, they somehow pull through.

    The weaponry/machines
FFVI-While the majority of fighters an travelors are equipped with weapons such as swords, daggers, and bows, sometimes heroes may have mechanical weapons like drills, chainsaws, etc. Also, the mostpowerful and skill wariors use giantic battling armors called Armetek*spelling*. Also, airships are used for safer travel by those who can afford them.

Escaflowne- While the majority of fighters an travelors are equipped with weapons such as swords, daggers, and bows, sometimes heroes may have mechanical weapons like drills, chainsaws, etc. Also, the mostpowerful and skill wariors use giantic battling armors called Guymelefs. Also, airships are used for safer travel by those who can afford them.

    Characters:
Terra/Hitmoi - The confused girl with amazing powers, that is the key to defeating the enemy.

Edgar/Allen - The typical ladies man, who seems to get in more trouble because of women. He's an excellent fighter though.

(mix Locke and Cyan)/Van - although the two FFVI characters have to be mixed in order for this, you'll see both make up Van. Van is a confused guy in love, but also sworn to kill the people who destroyed his.

Ghestahl/Donkirk - Old bearded emperor of the evil mechanical empire who is up to no good.

Leo/Folken - The general of the empire, who although not a good man in any sense, is not an evil man either. Someday he may see his mistakes. *wink wink, nudge nudge*

Kefka/ Dilandou - anyone who has played FFVI knows kefka is a insane lunatic who loves fire and will stop at nothing to kill everything, and in the PSX FMV looks a little feminine. Dilandou is exactly the same....
*accented*"they're two wild and craaaaazy guys!"

I know there is more, but i'm just too lazy to write about it..
this girls got stuff to do.
    tell me what you think.

Wow if you think about it that way.. they ARE VERY similar. Wonder if may be the game producer and the film directors were good friend Like the one where Initial D director is a good buddy of the producer/director/creator of GranTurismo . that's why they had included that panda color schemed Tureno in GT3

Heh there's just one big difference between Dilandu and Kefka, those who have seen the last few episodes of Escaflowne know what I'm talking about :spin:

Good point, but you can compare A LOT of things to FF6, it's storyline is kind of cliche. "A group of rebels vs. an evil empire." Sounds like Star Wars. It's characters are nothing out of the ordinary either. Oh well, FF6 is still my favorite FF :spin:

hahaha, great topic Jade!! I had the same feeling when I watched escaflowne. When I finished the series I thought it reminded me of something... But I could never figure out what it was until I read this. Thanks for the info!
