i bought the DVD because the cover was shiny (and it was like $33 so it had to be good) and it turned out to be really good ^^

anyone else think that Lavie is REALLY annoying?

Anyways, I think Last Exile has some of the best animation i've seen in a long time. Its a series high on my suggestion list.

lavie may be annoying but the main dude, whatever his name is, is reather submissive so it'd be hard to have an anime with two low key people, her lively personality counter-acts his laid back persona. We are talking bout the red head right? I don't remember anyones name in that thing and 33$!? I saw that price too, is there any reason for this? Cuz thats nuts...

I watched Last Exile, starting when it first aired in Japan, via digital fansubs and bit torrenting, before its license.
Anyways .. hm. Last Exile. Well, I was in love with this series -- up to a certain point. Around episode 11 or 12, I just realize that they were never going to really explain what was going on.

That is .. the anime frustrated me a lot, because a lot of the things the characters are participating in/talk about is never explained.
I just think that the anime tried to do a little too much. By that, I mean .. Last Exile could have been an awesome, just .. general adventure story (had they explained things decently).
It also could have been an awesome romance story.
It could have been a few more things, and instead of choosing just one genre, the series seems to try to put all these things together, and it makes it all .. weird, to me T=T

Anyways, the animation is superb .. I enjoyed it, but can't say it's one of my favorites, just because I'd rather have had more explained ^^*

By the way: I think Lavi is cute XD~ same with Al, and the little sheep toy.

I loved this series to death. I had torrented it before it was liscens as well ... =p Any how, it has a very good story although some things could have been explained more (like mentioned above). They did try to fit to much stuff in 26 (i think) episodes, they could have expanded on about 4 major scenes that i know off which would have added to the story greately but all they do is leave off in the middle/end of the scene development and then start someplace new in the next episode.

Since you seen the first dvd, i can talk about the 2nd episode =p

and one of my favorite scenes when lavie and claus are dilvering the messages and they read Madathane daughter's letter. The captain says something to them about not understanding chilvery and lavie rips on into them (i would qoute but ive seen two different subs saying two different things for that episode) and then its stand off and lavie has a straight face non-scared attitude through out the whole time (keeping in mind she has a gun pointed to her head). that had to be the first best scene in that series that i loved to death and played over and over again. =p

Ugh! I have seen the screenies of it and watched one episode of it and I want it all now. Sadly I missed the days before it was lisenced and am to poor to afford the Dvd's... sigh...

i loved last exile, the animation was beautiful and the story was original. the only thing i really didnt like about it was the ending, left me feeling a bit unfullfilled.
