I never understood everyone's hated of dubbing. I suppose its a purist thing. Personally I'd rather be able to watch a show than spend half my time reading the lines at the bottom of the screen.
Really, when you get used to subs, you just sort of absorb them and don't miss a thing of the anime (at least, I do). I used to be all dubs until AnimEigo started releasing Urusei Yatsura on DVD, they made it sub-only for the TV series. Liked the way that the Japanese voice actors in anime were 1000 times better than the American voice actors and switched over for good. My ears haven't bled since then.
There are two anime that I actually like the dub over the sub: Cowboy Bebop and Hellsing. Everything else, I automatically switch over to Japanese audio.
As far as my worst list, I'm pretty lenient with anime, as my massive DVD and fansub collection attests to. But the shows I absolutely cannot stand are anything Dragon Ball and Legend of Crystania (Lodoss War spinoff that is absolutely horrible). I can't really think of anything else that reaches that level of hatred, except for my hatred for 4Kids. But there is still lots of anime that I haven't seen (surprisingly), so something else may make the list someday.
Naruto=everyones gonna hate me for saying this but its good until the filler. filler=crap and every time i see a filler episode i wanna cry and hang myself
DBZ=Could it get any more repetative? Making 5 minutes last like 10 episodes is pure crap and a waste of my money
Evangelion=DIE SHINJI!!!! Most annoying characters eva!
Anime that really creeped me out making me dislike them
Serial Experiment Lain=/shudder creepy as anything. makes me wanna cry everytime someone mentions it
Elfen Lied=took someones suggestion and rented it, first episode freaked the hell out of me, and it takes a lot to scare me. so many heads and bodies exploding
i think thats all of them...i hope *dons flame protective suit*

Lol, Elfen Lied is a gore fest. If you thought the intro was bad you should see the last two-three episodes (US ones some reason they didn't release the actual last episode in the US one, that ok though the actual last episode I hear is more just fluff have to see it though and say for myself).
Anyway the last two-three on Elfen Lied are really bad if it disturbed you seeing the flat characters you don't learn a lot about just dying off. Then learning how "Kohta" lost his family and who was responsible would get you especially since they made his family's death so graphic.
I'm certain for the ones that just love to cut out emotion to the anime would just flat out state something like "WTF! The guy loves the one that killed his family! Wow, he's messed up and still trying to protect her knowing what happened?!? WTF!!!one1!1!!!". Anyway though yeah, that anime is a very gory.
I'm surprised with the reaction to "Lain" I personally actually saw it as a really cool anime, part of it's trick in what makes it creepy is figuring out and realizing which is real and which is the wired.
I can agree though Bo-Bobo-Bo-Bo-Bobo is a really annoying anime right there with "Duel Masters". Though I have to dispute against anime derived from games all being bad. One of the best animes taken from a card game is "Aquarian Age" it is a great one.

Well.....I may be dating myself here, but......Samurai Pizza Cats? >.>
Years ago, that was on a local station at 6:00am, weekdays. I'd gotten so used to my alarm clock that I could sleep through it, so when I needed to be up early, I'd program my TV to come on really loud on that channel at six in the morning. Never failed to jolt me outta bed.....violently........ x.X;
All the baby/fake animes of course, like that Super Hyper Robot Monkey thing. Totally Spies makes me want to regurgitate on my TV monitor, and Beyblade is a total joke.
And I have never been a fan of Dual Masters. Little 8 year old looking kids running around the world, getting kidnapped and whatnot, and getting in mortal danger. Can you say "child neglect?" Where are their parents in all of this! So stupid...Pokemon fits in there too. Repetative as all get out. Although, I have to admit, some of them are cool and the movies aren't *too* bad.
I think Pokemon and Yugioh could have been great, if only they didn't milk every single dime out of it that they could. Now it's too overexposed, and everyone thinks of it as kids stuff. Not to mention the fact that it ruined the face of anime when it went global. Now everyone I talk to about anime automatically have flashbacks to Pokemon, and automatically think that all anime is kids stuff. Not to mention the horrible card games now....
Dragonball Z was ok, and so was Dragonball, but when GT came out I decided to give up because it was becoming like Pokemon and Yugioh. Milking every dime they can out of it.../sigh
Oh yes and that Bobo-bo-bo-bo-bo...bobo show. It's so retarded, it's an anime crossover of One Piece and the Simpsons.
And speaking of One Piece, the only thing I have against it is Luffy's voice. Oh. My. God. STOP THE MADNESS. MY EARS!!!! THEY BLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Susan>> Babies are just like people. Susan>> Just smaller. [GM]Dave>> But I don't like people. [GM]Dave>> I hate people. Susan>> Babies are like small people that can't talk. [GM]Dave>> ... [GM]Dave>> I'm listening.
I didn't much care for the movie Akira, I think it was/is over-rated.
I'm sure it has some deep meaning, but once I start seeing teddy bears come to life and milk bleeding out of their eyes, it's enough for me to figure out what pipe they were smoking when they made the movie.
I also don't care for how they treat women in most animes:
General role of women in animes:
Woman: Oh "not-very-attractive-man" I love you!
Man: SHUT UP WOMAN!
I agree about Akira. It was overrated, not bad-just not much good however..

In closing, I've seen a bunch of people in this thread talking about "too much senseless violence". Am I the only one here sick enough to see loads of senseless violence as a good thing? Blood and guts kick ass!!
I'll agree with you on that.

#1 Worst anime ever created. Super Milk Chan *lights it on fire*
Hell yeah!
From what I've seen, what I despise so far and that I can name is...
Astro-boy (nothing more pathetic than seeing a little fag running around in his underwear rescuing the most idiotic fools from the dumbest villians ever created)
SeaLab-whatever (no explaination needed)
The original Dragonball series (not Z or GT... I thought it didn't get good until the Z-series)
Super Milk Chan (do I have to spell it out for you?)
Naruto (sorry, any show with a main-character as pathetic looking as the one in this show is pathetic to watch from the get)
Btw, didn't think the Matrix Trilogy was all that great, lol. Good concept for the movie, but how stuff happened and some of the actors weren't that great. I mean Keanu Reeves, do ya'll really think he's a great actor? Ever seen Bill and Ted? He really can't act, and he didn't seem like he really loved Trinity(whatever her irl name is, lol). Link and his wife seemed like a realy couple, and they weren't the lead actors, lol. Plus, the ending was soooo predictible, and him dying the way hid did
The only thing in the Matrix that's even partially anime is The Animatrix. Even someone who's not a big fan of anime as me could tell you that.
Whoever listed Power Rangers-since when did you consider that anime!?
As for my 5 favorite anime series/movies...
X
Ah! My Goddess!
Vampire Hunter: D
Gundam Wing (both the tv series and movie...)
I just got through watching the entire first and second seasons on DVD. Aside from only two or three episodes, that anime is just not funny at all.
Way overrated.
All Nations: Rank 10
Rise of the Zilart: Complete
Chains of Promathia: Complete 75 BRD/75 WHM/75 BLM/75 MNK/75 RDM/57 DRK/40 THF/39 WAR/37 NIN & SMN/All the rest < 37
Huh. Been nearly 3 years and my tastes in anime haven't changed much.
I haven't watched a whole lot of new anime, I don't download it and I have too many things I need to spend my money on to afford new DVDs.
Nuku Nuku : Dash - I was expecting a happy anime like Nuku Nuku...I was mistaken.
Yu-Gi-Oh - I hate this one not so much for it being an anime about card games...but because I had to deal with all those children that loved the anime on one of my jobs. I had to know enough about the series to be able to have a conversation with them too. :/ Part of my job also... Fortunately that job is over.
As for Evangelion... I personally like the series as a whole, but I'd like to point out that even the guy that did the english voice of Shinji hated him at times. (They talk about that in the commentaries of the End of Evangelion movie.)
Generic Info!
Yay for broken connection preventing me from exping/meriting!
All of the American "Anime" crap that's been flooding every station.
FYI, anime is a LOT different in the original voices than in the dubs... I always reccomend people watch at least 1 subbed episode before condemning an anime.
Meh theres usually nothing I dont like in animes. But some of the worse ones ive seen
Excel Saga - Liked it the first time I saw it, but then i read the manga and the manga was like 300 X funnier, and more wity.
Naruto - the dub just kills this, and i usually dont like series that last for more than 50ish episoids.
DBZ - god i hated this series, because i grew up with stuff like dirty pair, vampire hunter D, and X. Not only the fact that it went on forever. The stupid fact that they had to call out all their moves, and sit there talking to their enemiy while there charging.
And i grew up with all my friends always talking aboutit ><
Makingizer Z - Well i just really didnt like it. Though i did get a kick out of it switching it back and forth between english and japanese dubs.
Detective Conan - Really repetitive, strange though. I got a couple of laughs when i came up with some strange theories about the main character, and how hes actually the one commiting all the crimes and blamming it on others.
Super Milk Chan -EWWWWWW (smashes head into desk, god I hated this anime and it was boring bland and stupid. HATE!!!!) -yet my brother loves it
Now I actually really like most of the classics
Magic Knight Rayearth, and X were some of my favorites.
Now its Berserk, and Sorcerer huters (the OVA, the series was pretty good, just not quiet as good)
Tenchi - well I love this series in truth, mostly becuase I saw it the first time in japanese. The series was somethign wacky and new for me.
I love Eva so much because Ive watched it many times, and was one of the first animes i remember. The sotry is set, and the characters are fully developed throughout the story going through their messed up pasts. And everytime you watch it you find out something you never noticed before.
If you havent watched it again I guess youll never know how deep the rabit whole goes.
Berserk - alot of blood and gore to it, but I really like it for its story and characters. And how it truely gives you a complete background to alot of the main characters. I loved the series so much that ive gotten the manga -which actually completes the story instead of cutting out halfway.
And besides Griffith and guts have to be the coolest characters ive ever seen in an anime.
