I think Doppleganger is probably referring to Shin Tenchi a.k.a. Tenchi in Tokyo, in which case I probably agree with his assessment. The animation was terrible, the storyline was absolutely substandard in comparison to the OAVs, Tenchi was a lot weaker, both in power and personality... It just wasn't up to the standards set by the first series and the OAVs. Tenchi GXP was a nice change, I think. The animation and the music were wonderfully done and the story was a pleasant change. Like Tenchi, Seina is a likeable guy. It got a bit rough in the middle, like most of Shinichi Watanabe's works seem to do, but overall I gave the series a big thumb's up.

There's just a couple of anime that I can't stand.

#1 on my list and will always stay there is Dragonball-Z. It was good until it took 40+ episodes to kill 1 opponent. It got old real quick!

#2 is anything 4kids Entertainment dubs! They destroyed one of my favorite anime Tokyo Mew Mew! Poor Poor Ichigo! It will never be the same. Why did they have to go and destroy it!

I don't know if anyone mentioned it (I'm not reading through all 10 pages sorry) but I recently downloaded a show that I dont think has been released here and hope it never is. If someone ever says you should check out Grenadier kick them in the junk and run.

mahoromatic: honestly tried to sit through this sh*t but i stopped at the 10th episode. it was too craptastic for me to waste me time on.

weiss kruz: weak weak weak writing and horrible direction. this show is total crap and only appealed to yaoi fangirls

any and all shows that involve a harem. the only reason they exist is to leech money from the otaku cows who only dream of such things and will never ever ever see.

actually, the more i dwell on this topic the more i start thinking about the sorry state of anime these days and how true it is that almost everything we watch today was devised in the 70's and 80's and most everything coming out these days is just pure and utter rehash

I think that can be said for most tv and movies nowadays, anime or not. But I still think there are some shows that bring something new and interesting to the table. The problem is those shows are greatly outnumbered by the crap put out there.

In 10 years how many of these shows will be remembered as truly good stories? I think very few but those will be what we really remember about this era of anime.

Excel Saga... Dont even bother listening to the first episode. It doesnt have a story or a context its basicly dumd.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - Cant we even get a decent ending in 3 takes...
1) series final(weirdo)
2) remake of episodes24-26 (The point was?)
3) end of evangelion (hopeless)

Besides these 2 I dont think the any other anime can compare

i love .hack//sign(you need to watch more than 1 episode to get into it) but i hate .hack//legend of the twilight bracelet....also lupin the third is stupid....but my all time fav is full metal alchemist and ghost in the shell stand alone complex...ot

I have to agree, I can't stand Super Milk Chan, it isn't funny in the least bit. The show makes no since to me, i get the jokes, but it isn't funny. It could be b/c it is dubbed, i dunno. I'm not going to buy it to see if it is good subbed. I'd rather watch the new DBZ than Super Milk Chan.

I think Dragonball Z started going downhill when they did the Frieza Saga. Yes I did watch all of the Frieza sga, was a long while ago, lol. After it was over, I was like, what the crap? I just watched this b/c everyone said it was good. Thats when I stopped listening to what people said was popular.

Finally went and bought Evangelion, I don't know if its b/c if seen end of the world and mecha anime or what. But I didn't think it was the greatest. I understood all the deep and artistic stuff in it, but i dont' think it was the best. Somewhere near the end, can't remember the episode. They were thinking or talking to themselves (can't remember for sure, been awhile since i saw it) but I started getting really bored with it.

It was two or so episodes of it, i had to fastforward through most of it. After I understood what each character was thinking, i'd fast forward. I also have ADD, dunno if that really played a factor in it though. Eva was good, but not the greatest, at least not in my opinion. They could have done things differently and sent the same message, but also make it mean more to the person watching it. Also didn't care for how they mixed in they made it humorous and then serious. I wanted Eva to be either funny or serious, dunno why just do.

Also don't like Inuyasha, it seems like a....i don't know, just don't really like it. Just seems kinda cheesey or something, can't really put it into words, but umm yeah, lol.

I know there are at least some of you who used to like Pokemon. Some of ya'll had to be at the age where Pokemon was cool. I admit I used to watch Pokemon. I don't think there is any shame in that. Everyone starts somewhere right? It had a moral at the end of the show, what better way to introduce younger audiences into anime than shows like this? I hope you don't want your son/daughter to have their first anime experience to be Ninja Scrol or X the movie. I did grow out of pokemon as I hope everyone has. I stopped after the first season. It's just like DBZ, just starts getting ridiculous.

Btw, didn't think the Matrix Trilogy was all that great, lol. Good concept for the movie, but how stuff happened and some of the actors weren't that great. I mean Keanu Reeves, do ya'll really think he's a great actor? Ever seen Bill and Ted? He really can't act, and he didn't seem like he really loved Trinity(whatever her irl name is, lol). Link and his wife seemed like a realy couple, and they weren't the lead actors, lol. Plus, the ending was soooo predictible, and him dying the way hid did

Kite is.....welll.....very very very sick. Don't watch it, please. I thought i have seen some crazy stuff, but this tops it. I didn't know really what it was about. I downloaded it, yes, i know, but I deleted it, lol. Anyway, found out that it most likely wasn't coming do the U.S. b/c of what happens in it. I'm glad too, it is really sick, don't care if it's just a "cartoon" underage people having sex/rape is unacceptable. Hint at it, but don't actually show it, that is really sick, I'm disgusted(not surprised) that someone would actually make something like this.

I understand what was meant behind the whole anime but, they didn't have to do it like that. ><

Anyway, don't watch somehting you've never heard of before, lol.

Here is an anime that I found out about on a fansub site called Monster. It has no dragons,robots,spirit bombs, or ultra-gore in it. It is more of a drama i suppose. It is set in Germany. A topnotch doctor named Kenzou Tenma has to make a decision. Save a kid that was shot in the head or the govenor that just came in the hospital with a heart attack. Won't say which he chooses, but it changes his life. People start dying and a patient leaves the hospital. Can't tell you much, don't want to ruin it. But there are hospital politics going on early in the series which is pretty cool .

Just check it out, it's free as a fansub. So if you don't like it, you didn't waste any money.
