I watched some festering piece of dogshit call Harlock Saga or something like that. It's about a butt-pirate... I mean space-pirate called Captain Harlock who zooms around the galaxy in his indistructable spaceship firing a big gun at things. There's some shit about rine gold at the center of the universe and it gets stolen so the badguy can make it into a ring and destroy existence or some crap like that. It also features impotent "gods" in Valhala (spelled wrong) who apparently don't have any godly powers of any kind, and need a giant space station, built by a couple of perverted aliens, to save their lame asses from certian destruction. All the characters were stupid, the plot was half-baked, and it wasted five of my hard earned dollars in renting it. Steer clear of this one people.
I also saw some anime movie (can't seem to remember the name of it) that was about cops in future wearing some kind of special body armor and carrying giant chainguns and then a little girl blows herself up right in front of one of the cops and it fucks with his mind for the whole rest of the movie. I'm sure it had more plot than that but thankfully I've forgotten it. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please post the name so others can avoid it.
One more anime movie I didn't care for was Ghost in a Shell (I'm really gonna hear it now). It was alright I guess, but they spent so much time on philosophy and what defines humanity and the implications of computerization that the main plot took a backseat to it. The characters weren't developed enough for my tastes, and just about the time I was starting to get into it...it ended. It was quite well drawn however.
In closing, I've seen a bunch of people in this thread talking about "too much senseless violence". Am I the only one here sick enough to see loads of senseless violence as a good thing? Blood and guts kick ass!!

And, this is totally not a flame, but I can tell you didn't quite understand the film. I would explain it but it would be a spoiler to anyone who wants to see it.

Yea, I think that was it. You're bang on about me not understanding it. I was pretty trashed when I watched it... Then again, I was ripped when I watched Ghost In a Shell, and I think I understood that one pretty well. Why are anime movies trying to make a philosophical point in the first place? It just confuses me most of the time... or maybe something vital was lost in the translation...or maybe I just hit the pipe once too many times that night. Anyway, it just wasn't my cup o' tea.

I watched Sol Bianca. I think that is what it's called. I didn't like it much, but I watched it anyway. I didn't watch it to the end, however. I liked DBZ when I was 5 years old+, it was awesome back then. I move to the U.S. and no one had a clue what it was. I think it just started around here when I was like...12. I'm 16 now and I get to watch stuff like Naruto, Star Ocean Ex, Witch Hunter Robin, .hack//Legend of Twilight's Bracelet.
Oh yeah, Reign the Conqueror?! Disturbing...and Berzerk didn't catch my interest. Oh yeah I saw some stuff on TV before...one was something like Muscleman...it was on FOX, and the other was Fighting Foodons...omg and another called Beyblade or something. Wth were those people thinking when they made those. Beyblade is with some people that battle with spinning tops or something...bleh.

never seen north star. but ninja scroll is one of my favs, sad they cut the sequels part2.
NINJA RESSURECTION AND NINJA HELLSPAWN ARE NOT SEQUELS TO NINJA SCROLL!
The caps and bold are not meant as a flame to those who thought they were sequels. I was once fooled as well. The angry tone is out of disgust for the people who created Ninja Ressurection. There is NO SEQUEL to Ninja Scroll.
This is even stated on the "Manga" (people who published Ninja Scroll) website. Ninja Ressurection is not even published by "Manga".
Ok, Ninja Scroll has been my all time favorite Anime since I first saw it. It has only been surpassed by Cowboy Bebop but it is still my favorite Anime movie (even more than CB movie, which I loved).
So when I first rented Ninja Resurrection, I was so excited. It was the feeling of excitement that I felt when I saw X-men 2, Matrix 2, and any of the star wars sequels.
So, I was in shock by how horrible Ninja Ressurection was. It didn't seem like Ninja Scroll at all.
Anyway, like I said, a long time ago, the "Manga" website stated it was made by totally different people who purposely marketed it to make people think it was a sequel to Ninja Scroll.
On the box, the "Ninja Resurrection" is almost the exact same font (but slightly different) than "Ninja Scroll". Plus it says "The revenge of Jubei" underneath it. And it shows a Samurai that looks just like Jubei but with a patch on his eye. So any normal person, like you and me, believed it was a sequel.
In reality, if you watch the movie you can see that charater (featured on the box) isn't even in the movie much at all. All this shitty company did was make a character who looked similar to Jubei, named him Jubei (a somewhat common name) and used a similar name with similar font "Ninja.....".
I guess it pisses me off so much because what if after the first star wars was created (before any sequels) people went around saying the Star Wars series isn't that good because of the bad sequels. Imagine they were saying this because some other person (not George Lucas) made a movie called "Star Battles: Luke's revenge". And imagine that it happen to star Mark Hamill. And in the movie everyone calls him Luke but never Luke Skywalker (legally they can't). ANd it fooled the majority of the audience that it was a new Star Wars movie even though "Luke" is only in it partially and their is no mention of the death star, vader, R2D2, etc.
WEll that is the best way to describe the Ninja Scroll- Ninja Resurrection phenomenon. It just pisses me off. So few people would've watched that crap if it wasn't marketed like it was a Ninja Scroll sequel (notice it never says Ninja Scroll II).
I would not have been so angry if it was an official sequel and that it sucked because of an entirely different creative staff. However, that is not the case, it is a pure scam! It had nothing to do with Ninja Scroll but was marketed like it did.
Like I said, it was years ago that the Manga site spoke about this but they still have a little blurb on their site about the subject. It is in the FAQ section and this is what it states:
Is there a sequel to Ninja Scroll?
There may be people trying to cash in on the popularity of Ninja Scroll, but there is no sequel by the same creators or with the same characters as the original Jubei Ninpucho. Anything you may hear to the contrary is absolutely false. Recently, the packaging of the offending title has been changed to reflect this inconsistency.
WEll, I hope everyone enjoyed this rant and did not find it boring. I just think it's information that any Anime fan should know. As of this writing there has not been a movie sequel to "Ninja Scroll". There has only been the one movie and a Ninja Scroll television series.

Woo-yeah! No one said Weiß Kreuz! Knight Hunters sucked only if it was in english.. I mean, seriously, imagine a dull american voice screaming "Takatori Reiji!" Resident Evil: Director's cut, anyone?
G Gundam - ...Wtf...Power Rangers all over!
SOME Orphen episodes - The story was friggin awesome, but the animation was...horrible...In some episodes at least.
Hamtaro - What the...Dancing hampsters!? Come on I me-- You know what? You can have a better time smoking marijuanna while watching Hanging with Mr. Cooper and have a better time.
Kikiader (however you spell it) - Next episode!: The rainbow robot from hell, unleashed!
Reign - Alexanders neck is bigger than a black&decker snake light.

Pokemon
Digimon
Yu Gi Oh
Cardcaptor Sakura
any hentai
This isn't anime, but got it from an anime convention:
Return of Daijamon...or something like that
I'm not fond of the new Power Rangers stuff. It was cool back when they were Google 5, Changeman, etc.
I also prefer subtitled anime. I first watched Yu Yu Hakusho 7 years ago and it sucked to hear their names butchered on cartoon network.

Kizuna--- I don't even know if this made it past demo stages. I got a demo disc from somebody, still sealed and everything. I popped it in and was made sick by what took place. This thing was getting as close as you could to being adults only without actually crossing the barrier. Oh, that's not so bad right? Wrong. Nothing hurts worse than hearing a couple of Japanese men squeal like little girls. Yes, it was a gay anime. Literally a gay anime. That will teach me for not -carefully- reading the back of the DVD case.
ugh
Knights of (blank) --- I can't remember this anime's name. But this thing is just fan service. To use magic, they have to get naked and horny. The knights are female virgins. They fight things like gropers. There you go, there's the plot laid out. Thankfully I didn't buy that. Good old friends wasting money.
On the other end of the field:
Cowboy Bebop--- Must build shrine....
Lain--- Oh man, this one made my mind numb after watching the series straight. I personally liked it. Confusing at first (and second...) but once you get a general grasp/feel for the anime, it's nice. (Although episode 12 freaked me out, with "god" transforming.)
Excel Saga--- This thing is great for a quick laugh.
The bullet of justice caps evil's ass! Remember that!-Justice
Justice plays dirty!-Excel
Might makes right you know!-Justice
I thought the voice acting was well done. Yeah, Excel gets on my nerves, but that was on purpose. Illpallazo kills her repeatedly on the first episode for a reason.
I havn't finished this series though, and I heard that after the voice acting change (beginning disc 4 I think) makes the series no where nearly as good.
All Purpose Cultural Catgirl Nuku Nuku--- I loved the meowing and chasing after mice. Call me biased.Generic Info!
Yay for broken connection preventing me from exping/meriting!
