Is anyone into the Evangelion series c/ I do not understand the end of it. I talk to my friend about it and we tried but we can't figure it out. If anyone can help explain it that would be great.

there were three actual endings .

1) the ending with shinji choking asuka was the adam eve ending with the world being destroyed and them starting over.

2) the original ending was that really weird episode when everyone is talking to shinji in that limbo. that was basically shinji was some type of god and he could recreated the world the way he saw it. this left people more confused then the other ending.

3) the new ending they turned into a movie to further explain but i cant remember what someone told me about it and its been awhile since ive seen it.

hold some of this makes sense. but there are a bunch of interpretations.

I've also heard that the ending in the series happens at the same time as the ending in the movie.

The series ending is what's going through Shinji's head while the ending in the movie is what's going on in the world.

Notice how in the series that one of Shinji's "internal moments" is of some kinda day dream of having Misato, Rei, and Asuka. (where it shows one chick nekkid after another, asking something about "what he wants"). He wanted to be with all of them, each in a different way.

At the end of the movie, he appears to get his wish... when it's just him and who appears to be Asuka, if you look closely, you'll notice that the female is actually a combination of the three females.

-Looks like Asuka
-Has bandages like Rei always did (and I think red eyes instead of blue, but it's been a while since I saw it)
-Something having to do with Misato, but again I cant remember... maybe it was that necklace with the cross on it or something... gotta watch it again.

A lot of people were pissed off at the ending for the series cause they wanted a big finale with 'splosions and kung fu action. Although I can agree with them, (cause I like 'splosions and kung fu action), what a lot of them didn't take into account was that EVA wasn't just a story about giant robots fighting monsters Godzilla-style, but it was also a story about a boy with a screwed up life/past/family/situation/mentality/etc. So all things eventually lead to some trippy-ass internal conflicts... hence the WTF ending.

Hmm I was always under the impression that the TV ending is just the resolution to Shinji's internal struggle. i.e. He hates himself and what he is the entire goddamn TV show(which is actually the main plot of the TV series, not the massive battles and angel attacks) and the end of the TV series resolves that conflict within himself.

He finally accepts him for who he is, and is finally happy with himself. THAT is the ending to the TV show.

Annnnnnd from what I understand, many people got super pissed at this, complained a lot, and the creator got really pissed and made the movie to shut everyone up. Personally I didn't like the movie ending at all, or the whole movie for that matter, because I loved the TV ending. But I think it was intended to suck, or atleast really confuse people.

Shinji was so fk'd in the head by that point in the storyline anyways...

Let's recap as many things as I can get off the top of my head...(not comletely in order, but somewhat close)

-Mom dies
-Dad leaves
-Dad calls back
-Dad only needs me as a tool
-Far from whatever home I had
-New school, No friends
-Berserk time! wee! Crashmashy!
-Bully kicking my ass for putting his sister in the hospital, even though I didn't want anything to do with the "crisis" anyways
-Live with a hot chick... but she's actually a weirdo
-Blue haired chick is weird
-Red haired chick is a bitch, and won't lay off
-Did I mention I'm a 14 year old kid entrusted with defending an entire city?
-Can't help but have my pubescent mind fantasize about 3 chicks
-More fighting in giant demon thing
-Demon thing absorbs me... hey wait, you remind me of my mommy. Ohhhhh I get it.
-Bully that became friend is now part of the enemy
-Dad overrides my ability to keep me from saving bully-friend, and instead forces me to watch him get crushed by my own hand
-Angels mind-fuck me like it were the latest trend
-Eva's caught onto the trend because it's fun, wee!
-Red haired chick acts nice for a while, then hit's the bitch switch again
-Meet another kid sorta like me, and he really likes me.... almost too much.
-Best friend turns out to be my next main target, or the world will end.
-I kill my best friend

All this and more all before the "hospital bed" scene. As "gross" as it may be, I really can't say I'm surprised he'd pull something as introverted and uncaring for others as flogging the bishop in front of an unconcious secret-crush.

Shinji simply did the same thing Misato and Gendo did; at heart, they're almost exactly the same.

After all, both physical pain and sexual pleasure are two of the most efficient ways to prove one's existence, are they not?

I can see why many people would be put off by the TV Ending of Evangelion, but I found it remarkably brilliant.

When you're running out of money, use still frames for the last 2 episodes, focusing on an intellectual tour-de-force rather than mindless fan-pleasing violence!

It's not like I didn't pay attention, the writer just decided to through everything in your face at once. Shinjii just "finding" himself doesn't make much of an ending. Oh and what I really loved was how the last 3 episodes were Shinjii talking about how he hates himself, then during the last minute he is just like oh wait I don't have to hate myself. Brilliant!

I just bought the 1st dvd in the series from EBGames i thought it was pretty good so im hopefully getting the full set soon maby for christmas. its 120 buchs that was my last fuggin paycheck X,x I WANT A RAISE!!!! $6.20 an hour sux >,<
