Grave #5!

In a recent...thing...an...organization...named the top 100 greatest DVD films of all time. Excitingly, Studio Ghibli's 1989 WWII film "Grave of the Fireflies" was named #5, among the ranks of films like The Godfather and Citizen Kane.

It's pretty outstanding, to me. I'd never think that an anime film like this would ever be recognized to this extent.

If you haven't seen "Grave" yet, I highly recommend it as the best film I've ever seen. Go out and buy the collector's edition DVD today!

I'll have to check that out Pai. I saw a movie recently that I thought was utterly amazing. It's a bloody, violence filled flick, so not all will enjoy it but I am beside myslef with joy. It's called Battle Royale. Most of you have probably heard about it but if you haven't, you are missing out.

The plot goes a little something like thisbasic outline)

Set in Japan, the government sends one 9th grade class a year to an island where each is givin a bag with an item. The kids have to survive with whatever they have while everyone tries to kill each other. The last kid alive gets to go home.

It's a freaking awesome movie for those of you into blood, gore, and knife throws to the head.

Oh, and BTW it's not an anime. Real actors. Theres this one freaky due with cool eyes. Check it out

You know, I was kinda hoping they'd rerelease Grave to celebrate or soemthing, or at least give Ghibli and Takahata's films more advertisement and whatnot.

Hopefully this latest triumph will mean sometime for anime in the mainstream.
