Quoted for truth. As in, both those statements are true: both 7 and 8 were asked before.

Re: Vote for your favorite question!

BTW this is ask SE, not "ask random fan boy with too much anime crap all over his posts" I don't care what your replies are I want to know how they will reply to the questions. There were plenty of good questions on the forum, I don't see why this crap was chosen over them and it only goes to show how futile posting my own questions would have been.

Re: Vote for your favorite question!

If the only way you can reply to someone's concerns is by calling them short-sighted that is a shame. WHMs being shunned isn't a player issue. It is a game balance issue. If WHMs have no advantage to bring to a party post-40 there is nothing a player can do about that.

Of course, anyone can figure out Treasure Hunter by observing the way it affects the game... or not. The game is old enough that anything players might be able to learn from game mechanics has been thorougly plotted and analyzed. The fact of the matter is that the game mechanics change on a regular basis without any notification to the player base (i.e gardening and gardening recipes). It is totally valid to ask how any specific ability is affected by variables in the game. Even if they don't give the exact formula, throwing the player base a hint might help players figure it out.

The EULA is abused so heavily by RMT and players that it isn't a suitable answer. SE selectively enforces sections of and it and actively ignores other parts of it. There is nothing wrong with asking them why they do this.

Then feel free to go, on your own time at your expense, and go ask whatever questions you want to.

In similar vein to your post, this isn't a "whine like a little dick because things don't go your way" thread.

Wow. Have you ever thought that the reason people are questioning the selection of questions is exactly because they cannot get access to the development staff? It's not a matter of time and and expense. SE has extended a hand out to a select few for Q&A.

No one is whining about not having their way. They are simply questioning the selection of questions.

False. We still don't know the correlations between:
              * AGI, Parrying Skill, mob level, and parry rate
              * AGI, Shield Skill, Shield Size, mob level, and shielding rate
              * magic skill, elemental resistance, mob level, magic accuracy, and distribution of resists
              * AGI, Guard Skill, mob level, and guarding rate
              * ranged accuracy and ranged hit rate; distance and r.attack/r.acc
              * Enmity generated per point of damage done/recovered
              * Enmity lost per damage point taken
              * The new damage formulas for melee damage

Why? It's not because there's nothing left to analyze from the game mechanics. It's because the vast majority of players in this game don't care nearly enough to go and figure it out. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure most of the things listed above out. All it takes is time and a little initiative.

You are exactly right. That was my point. The players have figured out anything they might be able to figure out given the information they have. It's no longer a matter of time and initiative in my opinion. There are plenty of players who have spent an inordinate amount of time attempting to figure out game mechanics. If the developers don't volunteer new information, nothing new can be learned. Enmity is great example of this. No matter how much time you spend, you will never figure out how much enmity is lost per damage point taken. It is a completely hidden value and there are far too many variables for a player to figure it out.

Re: Vote for your favorite question!

I seriously hope these questions were chosen after having cross-referenced the other forums (such as Alla, BG and KI) so that no one ends up asking SE the same question more than once.

Remember, ours isn't the only community getting info out of SE at this event. I do have to say though, as much as I would have liked at least 1 of mine to be answered, you guys did make very good picks.

You're the one that's good at math. Get off your ass, Armando, your people demand formulas!

Also, only three of the questions here don't suck, two of them are pretty much the exact same question, and I'm pretty sure they've all been asked before. So meh at your questions, ffxio. meh at all of you.

Quite possibly because I found involvement in the game more entertaining than the game itself.

Re: Vote for your favorite question!

5.) How will PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 support be addressed as PS2s are phased out with the PS3 becoming dominant?

It is understood that currently there are no plans to support the PlayStation 3 for FF XI. However, will there be an eventual support for PS3 users and will a DVD pack like the Vana'diel Collection for the PC be available for the PlayStation users? What will happen to PS2 users down the road in terms of support?
                        I wholeheartedly endorse this question.

Feba, given the rate that you usually express disapproval at things, I think if 3 out of 10 of the questions were rated as not sucking by you then we're coming out above average overall.

At any rate, it looks like as many as three of the questions will need to be replaced entirely, but we're kindof at a loss for good questions. If you want to help out with this, please brainstorm some questions you think will get good answers and post Ask SE threads for them. Remember we're really unlikely to pick "SE would you please do X?" type questions since at best the response we get will be along the lines of "maybe we'll look into that" which they may or may not actually follow up on.

Nope, not even smilies; it's stupid, we know.

You know, some Admin should probably make it so that newbies to the forum don't have access to site-generated smilies or the button: it'd solve a lot of problems.

The feature needs to be reworked, but between me, Ako and PiNG each of us is lacking in either time or know-how. I've considered working on it but it's not a simple problem and in the meantime it does at least accomplish the thing it's supposed to.
