Huzzah! The latest expansion for FINAL FANTASY XI, titled "Treasures of Aht Urhgan," shipped to retailers on Tuesday, April 18th 2006. The game is now widely available at retailers in North America, and will arrive in stores in Europe and Japan on April 20th, 2006. The expansion is available on Windows PC, PlayStation 2, and Xbox 360 (included in the FINAL FANTASY XI for Xbox 360 package).
Tonight, Square Enix will begin service for the "Treasures of Aht Urhgan" expansion pack, as well as the Xbox 360 version of FINAL FANTASY XI. At the end of maintenence tonight, the content for the expansion as well as the 360 version of the game will be unlocked, and players new and old can renew or begin their adventures, and can now make it to the mysterious Aradjiah continent, located to the east of Mindartia. Once there, adventurers can become hired mercenaries by the enigmatic Aht Urhgan Empire, paving the way for new styles of adventuring, battle, and even three new job classes: Puppetmaster, Corsair, and Blue Mage!
Don't forget to install the expansion (DVD-ROM only!) and register the Expanded Services in the Content ID menu. Once that is done, you can go ahead and update FINAL FANTASY XI (there are about 14,095 files), but remember that you cannot play FINAL FANTASY XI on any platform until maintenence is over, and you cannot access Treasures of Aht Urhgan until Square Enix unlocks the content.
