HEADLINES:
- New warning system: better communication between users and moderators!

Warning System:
- The warning system in use by FFXIOnline.com now allows greater flexibility for users. We believe that these new changes will be better for all involved.
- As with the previous warning system, your user account will accumulate points for each warned action.
- However, points expire over time; depending on the warning, they will expire within a few days to a few weeks.
- As with the previous warning system, once your user account reaches a set amount of points (currently 5, but this could change in the future), it is banned - though depending on the warning given, your account may become unbanned within a few days.
- When you use a word on the "censored" list, you are automatically warned by DreamKeeper. Watch what you say!
- When you are warned, you will be notified. Inside your notification will be detailed information pertaining to your warning.
Currency:
- When you perform certain actions on the forum, you will be given "gil."
- You can use said "gil" to purchase special features for your account in the Items Shop.
- To get to the items shop, click STORE AND RPG on the top menu and choose BANK.
- Keep in mind that we're going to be improving this feature over the next few weeks as it becomes used.
RPG:
- Though this really has no bearing on the forums at all, the RPG is a small game that you can play in your spare time.
- Create your own character and challenge monsters ranging in levels!
- Purchase items from the shop using gil (explained above)!
- Challenge other players to a "duel"!
- These and many more features are available in the RPG -- click on STORE AND RPG and choose RPG STATUS PANEL.
- Like the currency system, this is also due for improvement very soon. We will announce changes as they are made.
Forum Layout and Default Template:
- We hope you like the new default template. There have been a lot of improvements over the previous templates used in older versions of the site.
- All pages now include dynamic menus which open and collapse like menus in your favorite applications. Most functions that you will use to access the site's various functions are inside these menus.
- Almost all frames can now be collapsed dynamically on the main page. Your preferences will be saved for the next time you return.
- VANA'NAVI is a new addition to the layout; it will give the current time in Vana'diel (among many other things, too)!
- All polls can now show up on the main page.
- This layout is (surprisingly) not nearly as bandwidth-intensive as the previous layout. Therefore, users on dial-up will have a smoother browsing experience.
Google AdSense:
- FFXIOnline.com now employs Google AdSense for advertisements in addition to the current ads.
- Google ads will only appear on thread pages. They always appear after the first post.
- We realize that many companies use Google's ad system to push actions that we don't condone here - like selling items/gil for cash - so we would like to employ your help in keeping the site clean of such ads.
- On each frame containing Google ads, next to the "SPONSORED LINK" text are two links: "REPORT AN ADVERTISEMENT" and "WHAT MAKES A BAD ADVERTISEMENT?"
- Clicking on "REPORT AN ADVERTISEMENT" will open a window where you can report an ad that is violating the PlayOnline User Agreement and we shouldn't be showing.
- Clicking on "WHAT MAKES A BAD ADVERTISEMENT?" will bring you to a topic detailing how to identify ads that we don't condone. Please help us keep the site clean!
Features For Post Authors:
- Quick Reply and Quick Edit will allow authors to reply to a topic and edit their posts faster than ever before.
- Typing /me before some text will now output a stylized line of text like an emote; example: typing /me is feeling tired from all this will output * PING is feeling tired from all this
- If you are the last to post on a topic and you post again before anyone else has had a chance to reply, your two posts will be merged into one. The merged post is clearly marked.
New Features For All Users:
- When you receive a new private message, the "NEW PM" notification will blink in red for higher visibility.
- You can now join a chat room hosted on the site itself; no additional installation is required.
- Vana'diel Adventurer status has been removed - in its place is a no-verification-required "SERVER SELECTION" which you can choose in your UserCP (or during registration). When you select your server, you will be able to post on that server's forum. If you change servers, you can change your server selection up to a maximum of 5 times, after which your choice will be permanent. Please contact me (PiNG) if you have more than one character on different servers.
- You can now search for users based on their server selection. Go to a user profile and click on the Server Name link; it will show everyone who's chosen that same server.
- A new Journal system has been added! This replaces our previous journal system. It is available under "FFXIO FEATURES" on the top navigation bar.
