    [dev1360] Addressing Server Slowdown

    The measures outlined below will be implemented in patch 1.22 to address server slowdown.
    Market Areas
    • It will now be possible to purchase items from all three cities via designated NPCs.
    • The location of the item search feature will be changed.
    • “Market Guide” NPCs will be added.

    Inns
    • The entrance to the Ul’dah Inn will be relocated to the Gold Court in the Ul’dah Merchant Strip (X:6, Y:5).

      Please note that until these measures are implemented, the current restrictions on entering the Ul’dah Inn will remain in effect.

    [dev1359] Market Area Improvements


    Patch 1.22 will introduce a number of improvements to market areas.
    • The following locations will be added to each city’s market area:
      • Limsa Lominsa Mercantile House
      • Gridania Mercantile House
      • Ul’dah Mercantile House

      In addition, the current item search feature will be moved to the locations mentioned above, and will take place through designated NPCs. This change will allow players to directly purchase items from any city’s market area. For example, a player in Gridania would be able to search for and purchase items from the Ul’dah market area by speaking with an NPC in the Ul’dah Mercantile House.

    • “Market Guide” NPCs will be added:

      In addition to using the existing market area entrances, players will be able to speak with “market guides” around town to travel directly to each Mercantile House.
    • It will now be possible to search retainer wares by typing item names into the search field.
      * Search results will show all items that start with the entered term.

    Finally, a pseduo-auction house. This will quell the QQ on (This is why I set home point to uldah ... for the $$$) This will save on anima and will rebalance server population across all three nation states so that one city doesn't look like WoW Beta at peak time and the other two look like the game stop receiving support 5 years ago and that it cost $5000 a month to play.

          This won't change the fact that purchasing anything at all from the markets takes forever. That said, this is a step in the right direction.

            They're not. An AH just doesn't work with the server code. I don't know why everyone keeps complaining about it when time and time again they've said the current server infrastructure cannot handle it. Hence, it will be in 2.0.

                  AH + Delivery System, seriously - getting tired of physically having to chase people down, Anima or no.

                  At least now I can deploy both my retainers in LL and not have to run to UD just to buy shit or check sales.
