Official FINAL FANTASY XI Forums Launch! (03/08/2011)
Official FINAL FANTASY XI Forums Launch! (03/08/2011)
We are pleased to announce that the official FINAL FANTASY XI discussion forums have gone live! The new forums will provide an ideal venue to discuss all things FINAL FANTASY XI with your fellow adventurers of Vana'diel, get the latest news and updates, and submit feedback to the development team.
If you have a token it's required for logging in to the forum. This is so lame.
They are using your SE acocunt for forum posting (for some reason) so it's better that way.
Though personally I'd much rather have a separate password exclusively for forum use.
PS > The EVE forums are the same, and I always hated that because we didn't even have a token there.
PPS > Japanese forums, though I'm surprised the didn't go BBS style for them.

Re: Official FINAL FANTASY XI Forums Launch! (03/08/2011)
PS2 hardware will eventually die. Replacement hardware is becoming increasingly difficult to find. Game development has been stifled many times due to the engine being designed for the PS2. It's time to rebuild the engine with long term support in mind.
It's not about shafting PS2 users, it's about making sure FFXI lives on and that the PS2's death doesn't drag FFXI down with it.
It's quite entertaining to see long time FFXI players fiercely arguing in support of the PS2, all the while willfully oblivious to the fact that clinging to that old console is just signing the game's death warrant.

Extensive alterations to the game have also stopped. All that is coming is tweaks and little additions that require a minimum of work. The user base is contracting and last numbers SE released showed a significant portion of the players are using the PS2.
You're not going to make a business case for major changes. Because I want it isn't a business case.
