    They should have it so that they only get exp for curing the injured and removing status effects, not like what it was before they nerfed it.

Even if I throw off a nuke or two or Spirit Dart or two while doing a leve or exping, I still do not get anywhere near the exp that my party does. I'll be lucky if I get any at all. I don't see why they can't throw con's a bone and give us a % of the exp that the party gets or something.

      Player 1 - 155 job exp
      Player 2 - 115 job exp
      Player 3 - 200 job exp
      Player 4 - 185 job exp
      ME - 50 job exp

      So take all 4 players and add up their exp and divide it by the party total which is 5. You'll get 131. To make it fair deduct the 50 exp that I got and give me an additional 81 exp. I think that works. Now they could do a sliding scale too so the exp would vary and depending on other factors, like if the healer gets more than a certain amount, then there is no bonus exp. I have done lvl 20 leves with my friends and watched them get 1/2 level or more while my bar barely even twitched. I'm partaking and not just standing there so why am I being penalized?

      Pretty much agree with everything. I LOVE the concept of the Conjurer. It's everything career Scholars would ever dream of. You can heal, you can buff, you can nuke, you can crowd control. You can specialise into one or two aspects or generalise and be a jack of all trades magic-wise.

      I LOVE playing support (and tank since I level them a lot on MMOs) classes. I would not have levelled White Mage, Corsair and Paladin on FFXI is I didn't love support classes. Both of those roles are thankless but when you do get the thanks you are reminded of why the class is worth it. Problem is is that FFXIV's current levelling system punishes healers that HEAL. In a team game there are so many reasons why that is WRONG. Forcing healers to solo in order to get level ups makes as much sense as dancing nude outside the home of Kim Long Il with a sign that says "Your heir might need to take up jogging"

          I almost bought the game after watching this!
          (Ok not even a chance )

          Is that the PS3 version of the game? <_<;

            So . . . the Japanese like their games to be frustratingly cryptic? >.>;

            Well, I guess so long as you can dance to the victory fanfare . . .

                It probably means XIV is so full of action and adventure that even grinding HELM leves can "Take you on a rollercoaster of emotions!"â„¢

                    Re: Ask the Devs! (10/22/2010)

                    I think they can fix the healing issue if they could somehow scale healing in such a way that you can't abuse it to gain skill points too quickly. What they had originally was bad (you could see that shit storm a mile away) but what they did in reaction to that was even worse. I can't tell you the number of times my friend (who had mysteriously quit playing this game) let me died because she was constantly struggling with trying to gain skill points for her Thau with spells and at the same time cover healing. Mid-cast deaths were always problematic and it became quite frustrating for her (especially if you had to tank 4 dodos at once which I have to admit, isn't a situation that happens a lot, but considering you have mostly only AOE offensive spells as a low level Thau, it's bound to happen)

                    It's quite easy to micromanage heals and assign values to the skill points. First of all, you will be assigned points for the amount of heal that actually is beneficial (i.e., traumatically injured patients will give you more points than people faking an injury or have a slight bruise on the noggin) Secondly, the amount of skill point should have a complex set of formulas for a given situation.

                    1 target - as normal, with a hidden cooldown timer which prevents overaccumulation of skill points in a set amount of time
                    2 targets - value of skill is split with 80% of skill gained from first target (see above) and then 10% + a set value for each subsequent target.
                    3 targets - value of skill is split with 70% of skill gained from first target and then 9% + a set ... etc.

                    In other words, you do end up (eventually) getting more skill points over that of just one target healing in a "raid" situation up to a maximum number of targets, say, 9 targets and then beyond 10, either SE makes it impossible for one healer to be healing a party of more than a dozen with aoe healing or they have to scale down the power of the healing as more players get hit with it. Right now, you can just effectively heal with just 1 healer for a dozen or more players in a group, which doesn't make any sense. It opens up to all kinds of abuse. Having monsters spam aoe TP moves doesn't make any sense either. Balance and real hard restrictions should be put in place or this game is just going to be nothing more than "whoever can figure out the best exploit wins".
