Now, this is just a total shot in the dark, but I'm pretty sure it was not you so much as the two posts above his that Dak was referring to.

I thought the same thing, YM.
Don't get me wrong. I want this game to be good. But it still sounds like there are many many bugs to be fixed before I'm sold. Ofcourse the only two MMO's I've played I didnt start till over a year after they were released. I hope they do address the issues that have come up so far to keep the game going (the not being able to target your own party members sounds like deep game coding and something that would be both difficult and very necessary to change) and hopefully I'll come in some time next year and love it. I'm really curious what it is about the game people love so much that keeps them playing despite all the faults.

For example, we are currently looking into options that will provide players with precise information as to which items are located in which market areas, or the ability to seek out specific items without the need for speaking to retainers, and more.
Hey Grizzlebeard, isn't this exactly what I suggested should happen earlier this week instead of scrapping the whole deal to make an AH system? I seem to remember you saying it was the "most idiotic thing I have heard all week?"

Yeah, I seem to remember that pretty well.

Not that I'm here to gloat about being totally right or anything.

What am I saying? Of course I am.

Personally, I'd wait until something was more set in stone before I gloated.

          But that's just me.

No, I said your entire post was the stupidest shit I'd seen posted on these forums in a while. I couldn't have imagined you'd attempt to build on that success with your following posts. However, as YM wisely states, I'd be cautious with your excitement. Even the slowest individual would have learned from years in FFXI how seemingly amazing announcements by S-E turn to shit when they go live due to their unfathomably idiotic implementation.

I'm liking the ward changes. It'd be great if you could search for a specific item and be given a list of all the retainers selling said item and the prices.

Not so crazy about the Anima. Needs to be dragged down to at least 2 per hour, as 6 a day is nothing. I'm already down to 10 freaking Anima. Getting to and from Liimsa > Grid is not fun.

Because, despite all the bitching and complaints, the game was actually pretty fun to play. Even with barebones content the game was vast and immersive, characters and gear look unique and different and the world itself is a lot of fun to explore. While being "first" isn't for everyone, it's still something a lot of people greatly enjoy because they're able to experience the wonder and excitement of this new world first hand, unspoiled by "how tos" and strict guides that you 'have' to follow.

The game does have a lot of cons right now, but it also has plenty of perks. Anyone with half a brain knows this game will get better over time, but many people prefer to be there from the beginning so they can better appreciate those changes.

While I agree the recharge rate is terrible, SE did make it so you could save a lot of anima by teleporting from base camps and even those lone crystals out in the field. It's like a weird to let players teleport on a whim but at the same time force them to travel the game on foot to really experience the world around them.

I remember playing RO and being at the forefront on exploring new content. Every new item I found was worth 10x as much as it would eventually be worth when things settled down, and we used to have a great time exploiting that. In RYL I spent about six days in a straight grind simply to be better than those damn BR.

It's fun to be one of the first to figure this stuff out. I am seeing people selling level 14 gear for 100k, which is pretty lame. I'm almost that rank and I haven't even collected a full set of bronze gear.

So you're saying SE's not alone in the retarded ideas department?

Not having to actually go to the retainers basically means that its a player paid for AH, than just an AH. What I see is instead of SE storing those items, the players are, at a monthly cost, to sell shit the same way they could in XI... but for free? And you think its a good idea?

I would say FFXI was/is just as riddled with problems and inconveniences.

Oh, I'm sure it was. I just never noticed because it was my first MMO. I'm glad people are enjoying it, it just seemed like all people were ever doing was complaining about the UI and the economy system and parts of the gameplay, it left me wondering why people were still playing it. So most MMO's are like this in the first few months of release? That's a relief. From the sound of it for awhile I thought they had pushed the release prematurely to capitalize on the in between expansion lull of WoW or something.
Hopefully, when some time frees up, I'll be joining ya'll.

Most MMOs really are a lot like this at release. Some more so than others. I mean, look at how much XI changed over the years. MMOs are almost always a work in progress. The amount of changes necessary and the time it takes to implement them varies by developer, of course, and SE is notorious for taking their sweet time, so I'll be interested to see how and when they do make improvements to the experience.

The lack of Anima wouldn't be quite as bad if I could just figure out how/when the hell you rent chocobos, but that only helps me when I'm doing leves that are in the same general area - I'm not hopping the damned Ferry from Limsa to Thanalan every time I want to go to Gridania, that's almost a 2 hour run.

Oh yea, every MMO is like this. Stuffs new, and people don't like "new". Especially when it's a completely untested, very unfamiliar "new". The Economy is still forming, the game is still being streamlined, people are still discovering how things work and SE is still fixing all sorts of completely bizarre and almost random bugs that pop up every time they alter a single line of code.

And of course, people being people, the stuff that gets the most attention is the negative stuff. When stuff is going right, nobody says a damn thing, but if something small goes wrong, then watch out cause the mob will be chasing you down flaming pitchforks in hand. I'm not saying I'm exempt from this behavior myself though, I completely recognize the fact I can bitch and complain about things more then compliment and praise. But at the same time, we as the players need to bitch and complain about things that are wrong so SE knows to fix it. Especially with the game being so young since they're paying extra special attention to all the small details right now.
