Wait do we have not seen any gameplay, had much more information than the link that Satori posted and people are already writing off the game due to generic JRPG town music being used for trailer music, PS2 assets and a PS2 engine being used in a PS2 game and the word "human?"

No, we are writing it off because you make a trailer in an attempt to entice people to play the game. This was not a leaked video, this was SE attempting to entice people to come play the new expansion. THEY PUT EFFORT INTO IT. And it sucked.

Enlightened Races is such a mouthful.

For the sake of playing devil's advocate I would argue that the Enlightened Races are sexually compatible and basically breeds of humans, not separate races. Except for Galka, they suck.

I was pleased to see the video but I do agree it could of been better or at least a little more revealing considering we've already seen a glimpse of the zones, the dat mining folks let us have more of a look around.
It reminded me of when I first got fraps and mashed up segments i rcorded and uploaded to youtube to see what it looked like.

OK ya'll must never have paid that much attention to the story. The 5 races are all human - It goes Zilart -> Kuluu -> Hume/Mithra/Galka/Taru/Elvaan, all of which are classified as "human" in-game. I forget where exactly it was said, pretty sure came up at least a couple of times in CoP and possibly Abyssea story but it's there.

I think it was probably more of a faux pas with the translation. Alternatively, we're the humans and the trailer was breaking the fourth wall.

Easily forgettable fact is easily forgettable.

Disinformation sometimes comes from forgetting things. Like the word Human in a game where they are actually Zilart or Kuluu or what the crap ever.

FFXI's 20th expansion will feature Jesus as the main antagonist, Monday will be the day it all begins and Coolaid will be an item you can use to regen MP.

YES I am making a big deal of things I don't care about in a game I haven't played for like a year. :3

First thought: what the hell is a "human" in Vanadiel?

Second thought: this trailer is really bad at getting me excited about the expansion. Is it really so lacking in content that focusing on a little spinning globe thing was supposed to be a major selling point?

Vague trailer is vague and uninspiring. Needs more pizazz.

This game is an old PS2 RPG with barely enough active subscribers to keep it going (they even took a hit with the temporary bundled FFXIV discounted subscription), a system built on Hiromichi Tanaka's vision (and limitations) and with all new updates, patches and expansions targeted solely to said active subscribers. I doubt they need to do much more.

Unless you want to do their trailers for them on a voluntary, "time donated", basis.

They should of tracked down Cruia to do it.
I'd bet money recollection bought more people to the game than any SE advertisement.
In all the time ffxi has been going I've only ever seen one tv advert for it that has been broadcast on english tv.

I somehow highly doubt this is the case, since we're getting an expansion with full fanfare (if not full hype).

FFXI's best years may or may not be behind it (always hard to tell with a level cap increase and accounting for nostalgia filters), but it clearly has quite a ways to go yet. (I'd argue that the add-ons/Abyssea, or perhaps the level cap increase to 80 itself was its mid-life crisis. Somewhere around that time, which gives us at least another two solid expansion packs after this one, at any rate.)

yeah you will be surprised at how long an MMORPG can last, hell look at Ultima Online and Ever Quest, still going.
