  • Easier Payment Options (08/23/2011)

We would like to take a moment to bring our valued fans and customers an important announcement regarding the Square Enix Account Transfer process. We will be extending the transfer cut-off date until we are able to implement a series of easier payment options to the system.

Click here for further details on these improvements.

    -------------------------

FINAL FANTASY XI Official Web Site

You've Spoken and We've Heard You
You, the community, have clearly expressed your dissatisfaction with our billing system transition—and we are listening. We now understand that the options we presented you did not meet the level of service you have come to expect from Square Enix, so we have been working hard to address these concerns.

Accordingly, we will be extending the transfer cut-off date until we are able to implement the following improvements:
    - New credit card payment options for Crysta [Available Now]
    - The ability to specify exactly how much Crysta you want to buy [Early Fall]
    - New recurring payment credit card options [Mid Fall]

We hope these steps show our ongoing commitment to you, our fans. It is our goal to make the FINAL FANTASY XI experience as fun and rewarding as possible.

Also in the days to come we'll reveal details for new offers and incentives to help ease your transition to the new system.

We sincerely thank you for your continued support of FINAL FANTASY XI.

    Yasu Kurosawa
FINAL FANTASY XI North American Online Producer

I was distracted by the hair also. It took me about 5 minutes to get passed it and read the post. I like it though (the post, not the hair).

Why on earth would you be angry about that? Let the Crysta supply get depleted and then purchase some exact amounts in a few months before switching over to the automated monthly payment.

My gut reaction was to be displeased as well, until I read that they'll provide the option to buy Crysta in exact amounts.

Step 1: buy more Crysta until you have exactly enough to pay for n months payment cycles, n being the next-highest integer.
Step 2: run your Crysta supply dry n payment cycles later.
Step 3: switch to the payment method of your choice.
                      Step 4:

Transferred my account today thinking the quoted line meant I could buy Crysta directly with my credit card. Clicked on "Add Crysta" and found the same two options as a month ago: ClickandBuy or UltimatePay. So I have no idea what new credit card payment options they're referring to.

With a little help on the official forums (!!), figured it out. You can now pay with a CC through UltimatePay rather than needing PayPal or a game card. There is an additional fee, but only on transactions above a certain amount. A $20 Crysta purchase incurred a 35 cent fee, but there was no additional charge on $5 and $10 purchases. Hopefully when the option to buy 1295 Crysta at a time becomes available, that will be below the threshold. For now I find the situation acceptable.

oh please the "I have to buy more crysta then I need" argument is sad -.-

buying the lowest amount of crysta you can at the moment twice, will grant you 3 months of service, your not buying more then you need, you are just paying for your months in an odd interval.

No it's not, it's total bullshit regardless of how much you should NOT have to overpay for a service. It's a matter of principal - particularly when it will take 8 years to even out so that you haven't effectively wasted any money.

And I'd much rather stick with Paypal using UltimatePay as I feel it's safer. I'm glad that soon we can purchase direct amounts and by the sounds of it, switch to direct billing once again by October or November.
