Re: FINAL FANTASY XI Job Adjustment Manifesto

Vague but awesome information is always good for keeping subscriptions going for another good 6-12 months.

I pity the poor S-E employees who land the job of sifting through the countless ridiculous job ability proposals that'll be posted on the official forums as a result of this announcement though and the ensuing arguments about how X class will be marginalised by Y class and how Z class never gets any love.

Re: FINAL FANTASY XI Job Adjustment Manifesto

The frustrating thing to me is that most of the reasons the less popular classes are less popular have nothing at all to do with the things they are looking to adjust here. Poor Paladin.

Sounds good in print. The ups to Steal and Despoil will be nice IF we actually get something from the theft that's worthwhile. But can we have an ability that makes people listen to us and understand 'placement'? My biggest gripe and the thing that frustrates me the most about THF is that people seem to play against what a THF needs to be successful. THF is really only as successful as his party lets him be. I used to think they just didn't know how a person has to play THF but lately it seems all too convenient that they do something that fucks me over right at the last second. I know in the peeve section there's a lot of people decrying /p. I swear to god I'm gonna add so many /p lines to my THF you won't even see dmg numbers from my spamming:

        /p Hold still
/p everyone on opposite side of the mob from tank...
/p opposite means the mob's ass...
/p quit moving and hold still
/p quit running so I can steal your hate
/p again... take your f'n ritalin and HOLD STILL

        I need an anti-saboteur ability.

Cool. Increase Acc and Dmg of WSs will be cool if we get a multi-hit WS that's worthwhile. SAM is still pretty awesome outside of Aby and all it needs inside of Aby is a crit-hit WS, imo. If that crit-hit WS is multihit... that would be awesome. TP bonus will be neat but will it stack w/ a TP bonus weapon? I'm interested to see what SE does with SAM. SAM used to be the end all be all DD and now simply because it's unnecessary in Aby many are referring to it as lolSAM.

Re: FINAL FANTASY XI Job Adjustment Manifesto

Being a RDM mainly playing the job as a Duelist I don't think the changes would matter much to me unless they added some new enhancing spells (Haste II, Enspell III, Spikes II, Phalanx III, etc.) and/or improved existing Enf-spells I use.

But then... it would all depend on me being able to play again, so lulz.

I'm interested to see what new enfeebles they come up with. I like the quick magic seal idea. I think I may have posted that before a long time ago. Being able to doublecast a Curaga II or Cure IV in emergencies would make me feel a bit better about the rdm healing situation.

I think I'm the only one interested in the new summons. Well, at least until they release information saying they'll be like Odin and Alexander... Then I just won't care anymore.

Some of the SCH trolls are just fucking lol omg...

Having a flame war now with one particular idiot who keeps railing about how SCH should get Ultima over BLM... because it totally deserves the single most powerful offensive spell in the series over the job who's sole purpose is to make shit dead.

Also it's about damn time they admit that Enfeebling magic is broken and needs serious fixing. I know I'm not the only RDM with 390+ skill who's beyond sick of seeing NMs resist the shit out of some our spells even with Atma & Cruor buffs. Immunities are one thing but come on.

...You weren't playing the game? This I did not know. But anyways, you best not hold your breath for this to happen seeing as they have finally released a statement of intent for the job.

But you know what? Squiggs is right, we need to nitpick this some more.
Support specialists who excel at transforming their allies from mere mortals into demigods with their enhancements, while rendering once-formidable enemies impotent with enfeebling magic.

We want to see red mages play a more vital role in HNM battles by making enfeebling magic more effective against high-level notorious monsters and their legendary levels of resistance as well as allowing them to better contribute to party member enhancement.
More buffs or this is not true. RDM's supporting spells that affect other players are Refresh, Haste, Regen, and Phalanx II if you merit it. Of that, 2 of those are granted by other jobs. In one of those cases, Regen, it is at higher tiers than the one we can provide.

The best of RDM's enhancing spells are self-target only. And now, seeing as it is become more and more of a waste to enhance the RDM itself, maybe it's time we start getting equivalents of our spells that can be cast on others. How about taking the Enspell II line and instead making it a non-self-target version instead of the pointless -resistance effect it has now, for instance?

Or maybe we should be the ones who can cast our Gain spells on others. I just checked how much my Gain-MND gives me today with all of my Enhancing gear. That's +15 MND I got. People pay good money to have +15 of an attribute from gear.

EDIT: Haha, I said "MND" gear originally in the bolded spot. Lucky nobody called me on that.

I think they must have confused us with Bard. Double marches and stuff like Elegy would match what they're describing better than anything Red Mage can do at the moment.
