Prioritize for the most gains since you can't get it all without spellcast.

Five piece WS build or suck it up and switch it all before with the possibility of wasting some TP.

Nuking set is mostly INT based, so you stick your five best enfeebling pieces in your sleep macro.

Sorry, but you're making the disadvantages of the vanilla client out to be worse than they actually are. You'll never achieve the same level of precision and efficiency with the vanilla client but you can still do a damn good job without spellcast.

Also: I'm dumbfounded that you can get away with only one row of macros.

I was assuming that they were using /macro set #. Could even use /macro book # I believe.

I was referring to how Firewind seems to fit everything into 20 slots.

Anyone who's serious about gearswapping in the vanilla client will of course be using /macro set or /macro book.

So, I've always thought I was serious about gearswapping but I have never used /macro set or /macro book. I don't quite understand them. But I'd like to. ;/

Ok, so you know how you get ten lines of macros in each macro book? Well, /macro set number will jump you up and down those lines.

I'll give you an example. I had my MND macro set up so the beginning of it was on line 4. I'd hit CTRL and flip down to line four and smash 3 to start the macro which looked like this:
            /equip x5
            /macro set 8

When the macro finished I"d be down at line 8, sitting on a macro which would continue swapping my gear:
            /equip x5
            /macro set 9
Down one more level and we're on line 9
            /equip x5
            /macro set 4
Bouncing back up to line 4 where I kept the rest of my equip macros.

It let me just mash ctrl + 3 three times in a row to get all my MND gear equipped before I started casting stoneskin or slow or something like that.

/macro book # does the same thing except it switches you between macro books. I never got to the point where I was stacking books, but /macro set was pretty handy for simplifying swapping into base gear-sets.

I'm not stacking books either, but I do use most of my set lines. It's nice to know that I can fall back into other books if need be.

My books are broken down by job. 20 Macro lines is probably enough for any job I'd play.

I just wish SE would let BLU set different spellsets and swap to them with one button or menu selection. I'm fine with the cooldown - I just hate having to remember exactly which spell combos I want.

My books tend to be broken down by job. My "Main 20" are basically the 20 most essential spells I want to have access to at all times. Other sets tend to be used for non-essential spells and I go have a set devoted to barspells (though I tend to switch in the most relevant one to my "Main 20".

I never really experimented much with set/book stacking. Part of what put me off it was getting stuck on a set at the worst possible time since you can't really count for every single set you might use with a "Return to set X" macro. I remember getting myself stuck on a line then really needing to drop a cure but was stuck cycling through sets, so by the time I found my set, the guy was dead. It's why the first line is always my "Main 20" as stated above.

I do appreciate you actually going to the effort to explain WHY you use (or used) the Vanilla client over SpellCast, and how you pulled off complex gear switching moves with the vanilla client instead of snarking so thanks for that.

                      Re: Square Enix Account Transfer

I could get very long winded about the importance of macro layouts, but that's a short novel for another day.

I figured the best way to dispell the misconception of gearswap macros in the vanilla client would be to outline how I made them work for me for over a year before making the jump to spellcast. It just really irritates me when folks automatically assume that the vanilla client means gear swapping isn't an option. It's just a recipe for repetitive stress injuries is all.

I wouldn't go back to using the vanilla client if you paid me, but that doesn't mean it prohibits you from obtaining the majority of the benefits of gear-swapping.

                      Also: Ctrl + Shift + # --> go to line #
Very useful for jumping to an appropriate line in a hurry rather than scrolling through one at a time.

This is what's difficult about the billing system changeover, to use Crysta you have to put a mailing address on your SE ID. ping pulled down the guide ages ago that I used to put the address into my POL account way back in 2002, and I don't live in Japan. I already had to switch to WebMoney because they won't authorize a non-JP card anymore, and 3D Security is a pain to get in some areas.

My NA SE ID asked me to pick my region for my account the last time I logged in, my JP SE ID has never offered that choice. Email support responded to my English email saying they'll only accept email in Japanese, and hasn't responded to my Japanese email yet. No response, but a lot of views, on the official forums too.

It's like they don't want to be able to be paid anymore.

                          Re: Square Enix Account Transfer

They say they will let you transfer regions on the POL account if you haven't already bound it to a SE account. though if you transfer from JP to NA, you will need to buy new codes for everything for NA region.

Unfortunately, I think most everyone has already bound their JP POL accounts to JP SE accounts and SE says this can not be undone once it is done. To get the mog satchel and security token. I don't know if they will let us webmoney in august for September through pol. Does JP SE account have webmoney?

I started an NA account years ago and I have a character there that is up to 90 now. With the high expense of webmoney due to paying a couple different people fees, sutocorp and palpay fees, I'm gonna shutdown my imported account on Aug 31, unless I can get 1 more month out of it in September.

My token is up and running. Does this mean I already have everything linked?

I used it myself as well.

if you have a token, you linked your FFXI/POL account to a SquareEnix account. They say here on this page SQUARE ENIX Support Center

That once an account is linked, it can not be undone. Which sucks for us.

I really wonder how many JP players will switch their accounts to NA region because the yen is stronger then the dollar.
