But you haven't been suggesting that uptime is important. Or why it is important.

So, why in this particular case is it important? And why is there an issue with the way they are bringing servers back online? Don't you think that SE is more likely to understand what is necessary to run their business, and are more cognizant of the risk/reward ratio for an action like this than we are?

I don't think uptime is probably so important that it's worth doubling your costs at a time when you're already forfeiting revenue. I'm not a businessman, clearly.

Isn't this the first time SE's had to take down the servers for reasons other than maintenance? The game's 9 years old. Expecting them to suck up more than double the server upkeep costs just so they can provide extra uptime once a decade is just not reasonable. There's no way this downtime is going to cause them more losses than having backup servers would've over the course of these 9 years. No one's gonna pay $25+ a month for a single account either.

The AC usually also runs the forced air system. A office building with no forced air quickly becomes almost unbearably uncomfortable..

Having a lot of computers and people in a closed space probably builds up heat pretty easily.

I know that's been the case when it's me and 5-7 of my friends in the same room with laptops. We gotta turn up the AC extra high to compensate.

Maybe they devised a way to pump the heat from the server rooms into the rest of the building to keep them warm.

Now that would be novel/innovative! There's a lot of wasted heat that produced by servers (and noise, oh the noise)
