Re: The Version Update Is Here! (12/07/2010)
It's been said before on countless other update threads, but I'll say it again here: SE really needs to work on a better system of getting the update. My laptop on campus here was able to get right on, do the file check and start downloading. However, my desktop at home (second account I'm doing at the same time) is continually running into POL-1160 errors, so either it's not downloading the first information file (50% of the time), or it gets through the first download, the long-ass file check and then can't download patch.txt, which makes the whole thing start over again.
Seriously... Is there any particular reason it can't be made into some kind of P2P system, like a torrent? Eliminates the "download slots" that seem to occur and are obviously limited, and takes the incredible strain off the SE servers. Hell, it could even work out to be a faster system altogether.
As far as the update notes, I can't say there's anything particularly bad about them. Drop rate "adjustments" were a little unexpected, though not unwelcome. I'm especially happy I managed to solo my Monkey past weekend for my Cirque Necklace, since it seems they updated the zone to keep people from exploiting the wall in La Theine.
In any case, can't wait to find those details on the new AF3. Oh, and boo to the BRD adjustment -- I knew it was too good to be true, but we could have hoped.
