Re: The Version Update Has Arrived! (09/08/2010)

Is it just me or after all the drama last time the guys from FFXIclopedia deleted a bunch of pages (for stuff that was confirmed but not yet added) before the update people just don't bother with it anymore?

I've been trying to get the stats on the new AF3s.... has anyone found these on the wiki and/or how these were found? I heard something about a moogle... the Magian Moogle page doesn't say anything. Seems to be related to Trial of the Magians though.

Re: The Version Update Has Arrived! (09/08/2010)

Kindred Crests are ex and have been reported to drop from a variety of 70+ mobs. They are not kindred seals but seem to be the third tier of the Beastman Seal/Kindred Seal system. (I wonder if that means there will eventually be Kindred Crest BCNMS...?)

If you saved up max merits before the update, don't forget to spend some so you won't waste the exp you get during crest farming. You only need 4 for G7.

As for Addle, if it works on mobs (and particularly HNMs) that are immune/super-resistant to Silence, it might have some use. Practically all spellcasting HNMs are immune to silence now (and probably that trend will continue into the future), but if they can be addled, that could make enfeebling significantly useful against them.

Re: The Version Update Has Arrived! (09/08/2010)

There's now a page about Kindred Crests on wiki. Some mobs which allegedly drop them are Catoblepas in Bibiki Bay, Flame Erucas (I think that's the name - can't access wiki on my work computer) in Halvung, Wivres & Hippogryffs in Grauberg, Steelshells in The Boyhada Tree, Ruly Imps in Xarcabard [S], Mandies (can't remember the name) in Abyssea-Tahrongi, Cockatrice in Cape Terrigan, and some others I'm not remembering at the moment.

Methinks there will be a lot of level 80 parties in all these zones for the next few days.

IF Abyssea mobs drop them, that's awesome news -- get the seals at the same time you get the merits you need (like me).

So far as I can tell...

              THF got dikt.

SAM got idk ??? Dikt ??? But maybe the new WS or gear will make up for it. Adjustment to Tachi: Ageha might have been cool as well.

Dnc got another step to spam when all the useful ones were actually maxed. Whoop dee doo... Decreasing a mob's ability to evade crit hits is nice if it was a job people wanted in endgame. It sounds a bit redundant to Quickstep decreasing over-all evasion to me as well but I could be missing something on that. In all fairness; last update gave very little for DNC to complain about other than the fact people still don't take the job seriously when it comes to endgame scenarios. Meanwhile I'm skillchaining with myself for consistently over 3k dmg now. Phuabos tell their children stories of hwo the big bad ruffles of madness will come get them in the night if they aren't good now.

              Forbidden Keys... epic winz.

              WtF are Kindred Crests?? ?? ?? ... I'm thinking:

is correct. Well... I'm killing 70+ things for my GK Trial atm so maybe I'll run across some up in Sky. At least I can use some of the merit points I had stored now though.

I have to agree with ya there... I've noticed some discrepencies when attempting to figure something new out. Can't remember the specific ones but I remember thinking the same thing.

Could be useful on mobs immune to silence, to lessen incoming magic damage. Would fit in line with the recent enhancing magic cap removal, so that +barspells could get us pretty resisty if things go crazy solo wise. Group wise I don't know what to think of it, anything wit crazy magic is just going to get stungunned anyway, unless its immune to stun, then it will just get zerged.

also Kindred's Crests, apparantly drop off mobs lvl 70+ from anywhere (including abyssea). Looks like Ill be spending the night in sky killing dolls or something, then agin all o lakshmi prolly up there atm doing the same. Guess ill just head to my obscure little corner of vana'diel and kill mobs there.

Also rumor has it, Polearm upgrade requires 10 of these as well, and the drop rate is <5% with TH4.

As I can tell from how pokey POL is, it's that time again! If I'm lucky, I might be able to start a download before going to bed.

Considering the "nerf" they made to it last time (by not making it possible to do two every other day around JP midnight), it was stupid that they didn't have this from the start.

                      - The following changes have been made to the Walk of Echoes:
Lulz power levels have been lowered. It may be worth playing now.

                      - The quest "Hat in Hand" is no longer repeatable.
Um... okay... but why? It's a 1-fame quest for a lv 4 hat, and it doesn't seem to be particularly well suited to spamming it for quick fame.

                      - The following additions and refinements have been made to Abyssea:
Defeating an enemy by attacking its weak point will now yield a greater variety of spoils.
                      ...and Massive Damage (tm).

Your remaining Visitant duration will now be shown in the message window when resting.
...an interesting way to do it.

The "add to lottable spoils" option has been added for items obtained from gold pyxides, with the exception of augmented items, temporary items and key items.

Remaining Visitant time will no longer be lost upon exiting Abyssea without receiving Visitant status.

You may now obtain multiple "forbidden keys" in one transaction from the Cruor Prospector NPC.

                      - The stackable quantity of the "Forbidden Key" item has been increased from 12 to 99.

The NPC Joachim will now inform adventurers of the quantity of traverser stones he currently has in stock. When he has no stones in stock, he will reveal the remaining time before a stone next becomes available.
...and those who are responsible have been sacked.

                      - The NPC Horst, newly added to Port Jeuno, can transport adventurers to any cavernous maw leading to a previously visited Abyssea area in exchange for cruor. Adventurers may also confirm with him the amount of cruor currently in their possession.
...that sound you hear is hundreds of players setting their home points in Jeuno.

                      - The maximum job level has been increased to 85.
To advance beyond level 80, you must first complete the new quest "Expanding Horizons" offered by the Nomad Moogle in Ru'Lude Gardens.
(checks wiki) 4 merit points and 5 Kindred's Crests. Cool. Er, waitaminnit... Kindred's CRESTS? Looks like yet another item to pork my inventory when exping. Just like K-seals, only they drop from 70+ mobs. This also implies a new tier of BCNMs coming in the future. I guess they'll be called KCNMs.

Spur (BST Lv.83 Ability Delay: 3 min. Effect Duration: 90 sec.)
Grants "Store TP" effect to pets.

Crit. Def. Bonus / DRG Lv.85, PUP Lv.85 / Improves defense against critical hits.
Yep, lots of tequila during that dart board session. And what is their obsession with store TP anyhow?

Deus Ex Automata (PUP Lv.5 Ability Delay: 1 min.)
Calls forth your automaton in an unsound state.

When level restriction results in a puppetmaster's automaton being deactivated in a state of full or nearly full health, the ability "Activate" will now be usable immediately.

The items below usable with the puppetmaster ability "Repair" will now provide immediate HP restoration in addition to their existing Regen effect. Their purchase price will also be reduced.
Automaton Oil / Automaton Oil +1 / Automaton Oil +2
Even if it's lame, Deus Ex probably won't suck completely. So does Besieged still take away your full health automaton without resetting your Activate timer? If there's anywhere SE might have missed fixing that, that's it. And was the price of oils really that bad? Will there be any point in crafting them now?

                      The thief ability "Despoil"
...sucks less. But it still sucks.

The beastmaster ability "Reward" has had minimum level requirements placed on pet food as follows, and the healing effect has been increased accordingly for food of higher levels:

                      - Pet Food Alpha (Level 12)
                      - Pet Food Beta (Level 24)
                      - Pet Food Gamma (Level 36)
                      - Pet Food Delta (Level 48)
                      - Pet Food Epsilon (Level 60)
                      - Pet Food Zeta (Level 72)
Should have been done 5 years ago, not now.

Assigned sets of blue magic will remain stored even after changing jobs.
Why they waited so long for this, I don't know. PUP could do it.

                      (new spells)
...could you at least tell us now what they do, SE? Apparently Addle's effect is just plain lame?

                      - A change to the algorithm used to calculate status effects for player characters and automatons has been implemented.
                      Errm?

                      - Manual removal of the following status icons has been temporarily disabled:
STR Boost / DEX Boost / VIT Boost / AGI Boost / INT Boost / MND Boost / CHR Boost
Interesting, sounds like they may have found a problem with that and the new spells.

                      - Level and/or placement of certain monsters have been adjusted in the following areas:
Mount Zhayolm / Aydeewa Subterrane / Caedarva Mire / Arrapago Reef
                      There's your new 85+ mobs.

                      - The following equipment and furnishings may now be entrusted to the storage NPC:
San d'Orian Flag / Bastokan Flag / Windurstian Flag / Carillon Vermeil / Aeolsglocke / Leafbell
I'm always happy to see the event equipment become finally storable, but... the nation flags? Wow. So why not the Jeuno flag too?

EDIT: oh yeah, and how many updates before we can store K-crests on Shami?

Addle's only good against two things. First of which, fighting enemy PC Red Mages (oh, lookie what that high-level RDM mob just decided to cast . . . good thing we can't hold hate any more to save our lives . . .), which may actually be relevant to this change . . .

                          - A change to the algorithm used to calculate status effects for player characters and automatons has been implemented.
Second possible use is, as Karinya said, to give us something to use against Silence-immune mobs. Assuming S-E didn't go ahead and make them Addle-immune, too, just for the trollololz.

Kindred Crest drop rate is <5% with TH4? Everyone will be crazily trying to farm them. You'd theoretically need 30 for a party of 6 ... how freakin' long is that going to take?!

Even getting 10 from something my husband and I can duo is going to take an age.

Last I saw, there were 20 level 81 characters on Valefor. It can't take that long.

Cool. Maybe the person who calculated the <5% rate was just having a long run of really crappy luck.
